Alright I'm about to rant so if you don't want to read skip this review.
I have been getting food from DJ's for months, since my friend took me their once I was sold; the food was delicious, with an array of different flavourings and styles for dishes, the collection of different meals to purchase and I loved the cultural themes behind the flavours and dishes.
As time has continued their service has gotten sloppy, alongside the food they serve. Starting with their opening times, the business (according to their sign and website) should open everyday, around 12 most days, but as time prolonged , they would either open hours late, or not at all. Being a small business it's understandable the it can take time for food to be ready, but going form waiting 5 minutes, to 30+ is unexceptionable. I've had meals that have been under cooked, cold, soggy and food poisoning (I was under assumption that it was the fault of the recent hire); assuming it's down to the number and quality of staffing I decided I'd wait a while until I next go there, to see if things have improved.
Now, fast forward to today, the DJ's kitchen wouldn't cross my mind for a place to eat again. I pre-ordered my food at 11 (a service they added a few months ago) and it was meant to be ready at 12:10 I go down to collect, to see a sign written on paper towels stuck to the window, "Open at 12:30". So wanting my food I wait a little while in the nearby park, I go back to DJ's to see another sign "Open at 1". So understandably I was irritated, I hadn't eaten all day, and I just wanted my food. Skip half an hour of procrastination, and I am back at DJ's, I wait in line behind 3 other people, I showed one of the employees my order receipt and received my food in a bag (for reference I ordered the Loaded Fries with 2 Chicken breasts on top as an extra). I get in, sit on the sofa, take out the tub to have oil leak down on my clothes and the sofa, I then opened the tub to see my meal is soggy but with my hunger I decided still to try it. The food was not only cold and soaked in grease but the fries weren't even fully cooked. I waited over an hour, to receive an inedible sloppy mess, and I felt very disappointed, extremely angry and so disgusted I felt compelled to write this review! After this experience this is the last time I will ever step...
Read moreAs wing fanatics, my partner & I went down to DJ’s Kitchen to collect a spontaneous takeaway this evening. I’d heard much about this place & was really excited. Unfortunately I couldn’t be more disappointed in the experience we’ve had. I’m actually gobsmacked by how bad it was. We arrived at 7pm (wasn’t particularly busy) & ordered 10 wings, 10 tenders & some fries. AFTER paying, the cashier told us it would be a 30 minute wait. Bit annoying but not the end of the world. We headed home as we live close by then arrived back after 30 mins. Upon our reentry we were told “5 minutes”. We then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes before getting our food. So an hour total for 10 wings & 10 tenders on what seemed a pretty quiet night. The staff offered little to no communication about when our food would be ready. Everyone in the premises seemed visibly frustrated. Here’s where I made the mistake of thinking at least the food will be awesome after all that waiting time! How wrong I was. Opened the bag & straight away realised they’d forgotten a portion of tenders… All the chicken was tepid at best, zero crunch & the sauces tasted full of e numbers & not fresh at all. One of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time. Only ate half of it. Quite honestly perplexed by how it’s been scoring so high. So so disappointed by this experience. Would’ve asked for a refund but couldn’t bear the thought of having to go back for...
Read moreI initially visited the DJ's kitchen for their pre launch and unfortunately they did get my order wrong and I was missing a few items.
However I do appreciate this was their pre launch and it was VERY BUSY. The staff were also brand new and probably needed to adjust with all the high volume and variety of orders.
Being slightly disappointed that day I reached out to the owner on their Instagram page and mentioned the issue with my order. The owner was very sympathetic and was quick to try and rectify the situation. I messaged many weeks later stating my intention to come by and they did sort me out with food I was missing the first time round.
The food has always exceeded expectations in terms of flavours and portion sizes. The subs + wings are always on point and the service is impeccable. I haven't tried everything on the menu yet but it is on my list! I remember once I had a tandoori style burger (was like red in colour) at their old location and hope one day that does come back!
To anyone reading this.... I can say with some certainty that anyone who has had a bad experience here probably hasn't actually spoken to the DJ's kitchen staff about what was wrong, as I'm sure they would have addressed things swiftly.
These guys are all about the people! I will continue to support them 1000%!!!!
Deserves way...
