This place has so much potential. We have been coming for years and have been happy. We came back first time since summer 2020 ( due to Covid closures, not by choice). We were surprised to see that the garden only had 4 tables taken. We came around 7ish and were told the back garden will be shutting soon - around 7:30pm due to lack of staff. This is the part that’s child friendly - with a climbing frame, toys, bouncy castle. Parents heaven. The main reason why we came here. The other 3 families left, we moved to the front garden. I think the pub needs a change before it’s too late - it was a lovely sunny Saturday evening in June & the place was empty - such a shame as it’s lovely! Bring in the music, BBQ, use social media ( Insta/FB), go wild, bring the crowds back in - it’s Euro 2020, it should be rammed!
This was my previous review - I have edited it & updated it. This place is perfect for families & everyone else - still stand by it. It is near Cruise Hill, off Whitewebbs Enfield area. It’s indoors, outdoors, accessible for buggies & wheel chairs - perfect. There’s toilets, not sure about the changing area. Kids can play, parents can rest. They serve food, but we didn’t eat on this occasion. There’s plenty of parking. Do go in & visit, it would be a big shame to loose this place. Hopefully they can make some changes based on everyone’s feedback. Happy to come back...
Read moreI have only visited the King and Tinker on a few occasions, we visited today with our children and were disgusted with the bar staffs attitude. The lady that served us was very quick to tell us she “was the landlords daughter” she was abrupt and very dismissive to our children. There is a huge wasps nest in the garden which we made her aware of, she told us “what do you want me to do about it?” She was unapologetic, unhelpful, and quite frankly RUDE. The bouncy castles in the garden are not safe and not regulated appropriately, one of them deflated whilst our children were playing! On approaching the bar, we were met with an unhappy, unhelpful service, after requesting 5 ice cream deserts for our children we were told no sprinkle or sauce and when I disputed the £3 charge per scoop I was then retorted with ‘well I don’t make the prices up, speak to the landlord, my dad’ I found this very off putting, considering I had already spent almost £150 in the establishment today. The cost was not an issue, it was the horror of her attitude that fully refrained me from wanting to pay £15 for 5 scoops of ice cream. To say I am dissatisfied with the hospitality today would be an...
Read moreAmazing little gem in London, this country pub is packed to the rafters with history and folk law, Guy Fawkes almost certainly came in here and the gatehouse to the pub itself is one of North London's oldest.
The pub has friendly locals, a warm cosy atmosphere and a very lovable little dog as well as being an enjoyable 30 minute stroll from the historic Grade 1 listed Jacobean Manor of Forty Hall. I recommend walking through the ancient grounds of Forty Hall to get there as this is a magical wander.. The King and Tinker is also located right next to the historic grounds of Whitwebbs.
With regards to facilities the pub serves a range of popular ales and has a dining area serving decent food. Service is excellent. There is also an outdoor seating area.
I recommend this quaint little establishment for anyone looking for a traditional English pub experience in North London, its the perfect end to a day out exploring the rich history of this...
