Truffles Bromley — Restaurant in London

By far the worst breakfast I've ever eaten! Great if your taste buds have died.

I visited on my birthday thinking it would be a treat but I couldn't be more wrong. After waiting 10 mins to order I had to go to the counter to even get a waiter who was staring into space. The place is called Truffle so I thought why not try the truffle eggs breakfast.

20 min later I got two dry un-toasted, un-buttered, muffins topped with soggy mushrooms and poached eggs. They even forgot to put the so called 'truffle hollandaise' on the eggs. As an after thought I got a small ramekin of tasteless hollandaise, with a drizzle of truffle oil floating on top. I've never seen or eaten anything so disappointing. The wall moss would have been more appetising. No wonder theres a sign by the moss saying 'do not touch'. It would have been a better breakfast.

I was in a rush to get out of the place and not bring my mood down further.

Not what it used to be. We made a reservation and arrived a few minutes early. There wasn't a free table so we stood by the door. Not a single waitress greeted us. After about 5 minutes I said to one of them that we had a reservation, but we were just told the obvious, no table. We gave our order while waiting. It took about 25 minutes to be seated, the reservation was pointless. The food came after about another 20 minutes, a total wait from reservation time of 45 minutes and this is with 2 children. And most disappointing was the food. This used to be our go to place for a full English breakfast, but not any more. Most of it was overcooked - sausage covered in charcoal, dry bacon and eggs, just the opposite of what used to make it so good. I'm not sure why this café changed hands, but the new team need to make a few improvements to return to the former standard. Unfortunately there's no longer a reason for...

I have had excellent meals at Truffles in the past. Today I decided to treat my son to lunch. I ordered the poached egg with smoked salmon and my son ordered the chicken burger. My meal arrived with the great presentation I had come to expect. My son's meal was a piece of dry meat in a dry bun, no onion, no sauce, no salad, nothing to make it in any way attractive. I complained to one of the waitresses and she promised to take up the matter.

We received no further contact from the staff. There was no adjustment to the bill.

Clearly the lesson is if you do eat here choose things with a detailed description. Don't assume that they will give you anything that's not described...
