As many of the lowest reviews on Google for this pub indicate, the staff have a vengeance against people requesting tap water and not purchasing a drink.
I visited the pub today while walking Malvern Hills with my friends, we used the restroom and were looking to order drinks. Three of my friends decided they wanted tap water while me and my friend wanted lemon and lime. The bar staff refused to serve us because not everyone was buying drinks and proceeded to talk about the struggling costs and bills for the pub, so we decided to vacate.
While walking away from the bar I told my friends that licensed venues must serve free tap water to which another member of the bar staff told me to shut my mouth. I found this to be very rude, unprofessional and left a bitter taste in my mouth.
From a business standpoint, I found this situation to be completely absurd. There were plenty of empty tables in the pub which do not generate revenue. Turning away a group of people, some of whom want to purchase drinks and some who want tap water seems counterinitiative as there is some revenue to be generated as opposed to none at all on empty tables.

Read moreDecided at the last minute to go some where, and we booked a room at 5pm 19/10/15 arrived at about 8.40 that night,as soon as we walked in we knew we did the right thing by booking this place even tho the restaurant was closed they still provided us with a meal,it was a absolute pleasure to stay at The Wyche,The Wyche is situated half way up the Malvern Hills which made it easier for us to reach the top without using a car,the summit was in good walking distance and the views were breath taking for us as was the walking up to the summit. If you are looking for some where to stay in the Malvern Hills then this is it,the owners are very nice and eager to help and advise on your days out,the food is of good quality, quantity and a good price,we stayed 2 nights breakfast was included,we decide to eat at the Wyche in the evening aswell for under £200 very good value for money,If Aldi run a Hotel they couldn't do it as well as The Wyche did,the rooms were very clean and were replenished during our stay.we would not hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it for anyone including families who like this sort of adventure,I was told that they have flats and a cottage to let for families and those that don't always want to stay in a hotel and like a bit more independence. Thank you to the owners of The Wyche for a great break. Highly...
Read moreAs soon as we entered it felt as though we were being stared at, as though we had intruded. Some of us had used the toilets coming back from our walk and we were waiting for the kitchen to open in the next 6 minutes so we could order some food. Our youngest opened a packet a crisp, which fair enough isn't allowed as they serve food. However a staff member later sniped at us that she was wound up over the crisps, and that we all EACH had to order something (a group of 7) or that we had to leave, because it is not a place of 'refuge'. Now, we had planned to order a few portions of chips when the restaurant opened and share them with some soft drinks, but we were basically told to leave at that point because we were sitting and waiting. It felt very unwelcoming and a bit unnerving as we are some international students visiting the lovely place of Malvern, and it felt as though we were being spoken down to. I can understand only wanting paying customers but it isn't right to intimidate potential customers, and really no pub, bar, restaurant usually has such a policy where every single person needs to buy a different item. To us, it felt like they just wanted us out of there. Maybe I could understand if we were being rowdy but we are simply POC medical students going hiking...
