Read moreWe booked the Rushley to have my Grandma’s wake following her funeral today we booked over 3 weeks prior we were told despite the funeral being early we would be able to get into the pub prior to 11 but no alcohol would be served until 11 - fare enough . we phoned the pub as instructed as we left the crem to say we were on route and was told closed until 11 !! we were stood in the frost until just before 11 when they let us in . Once inside to the function room it wasn’t ready the cleaner was very rude to our guests the room wasn’t set up Or ready and had no heat it was freezing in there ! No food out that arrived 45 minutes after we got into the room . We were told tea and coffee was not included in the buffet that would be extra £1.99 per head ! On top on the £11.95 we had paid the wake was just short of £600. We refused the extra cost for tea and coffee as felt should be in with price we then find out coffee machine behind bar doesn’t work !! The pub do eventually give into providing hot water and tea bags coffee sachets. We catered for more than we had there but the hot food ran out before all had eaten the sandwiches were poor quality. I complained to the staff ladies toilets were very unclean in a real mess from night before as pub not even open yet. I returned to the toilet 2 hours later and still in the same mess ! Despite me reporting it on arrival. Once bar was open only 1 member of staff serving for first half hour so everyone waiting a long time to be served. The staff were rude and unhelpful and this was not helpful in mourning our loved one. I would advise anyone thinking of having a function here to go else where. The Rushley must get a lot of wakes being booked there being so close to the Crematorium, I feel they are taking advantage of that and not deserving of...
Read moreWe visited this place today with our son and our two granddaughters. We arrived at the venue at 12:15 and promptly ordered our drinks and food. There were approximately 15 people in the building so thought the food would be pretty quick arriving. After 45 minutes my wife went to the bar to check that our order had actually been taken as it was taking so long to arrive. After 1 hour, 4 meals arrived and we were told that our son's meal would be with us 5 minutes later. It actually arrived nearer to 10 minutes behind ours and two of the four meals that had already been delivered had already been eaten. This left our son to eat alone. We then discussed whether to have a sweet or not. My wife and myself decided we'd had enough and wanted to leave. However, the granddaughters wanted an ice cream and our son also decided to have sweet. Once again, after 30 minutes we had to chase the order up and finally the ice cream arrived after waiting 45 minutes for it. My son ordered apple crumble and ice cream. However, he got apple crumble and custard which he doesn't like. The girls ordered the ice cream because it was advertised as having crispy sugar coated canes in the ice cream. The crispy sugar coated canes was not in the ice cream so we questioned this and one of the staff informed us that this was not now on offer but came out later with a chocolate flake and sugar coated canes separately in a bowl? By this time we had lost the will to live and couldn't be bothered complaining about my sons custard that he got instead of the ice cream that he had ordered, we couldn't wait to leave the building. Just as we were about to leave my granddaughter drop something on the floor and I bent down to pick it up and noticed the filth that was under the table. Please see attached...
