Vivaa — Restaurant in Metropolitan Borough of Solihull

Went there at the recommendation of a colleague, booked in adv, seemed like a nice enough place, when we were seated, I asked for some poppadoms while we decided on what to order but very unexpectedly told it’s against policy to serve poppadoms before placing food order 😳 In all my years of dining at Indian restaurants, this was the first time I have ever experienced such a thing, compromising on quality of service for a few poppadoms 🤦‍♂️ that immediately set a bad tone for the evening, I should have known it would only get worse from here.

Once we ordered, the food arrived after a fair enough time, tasted nice enough although one of the dishes had more bones and not enough meat to the dish 👎🏻

Things went from low to poor standards because when we were not even halfway through our meal, the bill was brought to us that we did not ask for-some of us were still eating for godsakes! We were made to feel very uncomfortable and rushed, it wasn’t anywhere near closing time so clearly they needed the table for another party, what a shame for them, compromising their standards over basic hospitality etiquette and customer service. First visit for a collection.Welcoming atmosphere and decor, service excellent...the food however...Chicken Tikka starter was dry and tough and a bit sweaty (plastic container).Chicken bhuna was bland and the sauce a bit watery, chicken pieces too large.(four of) Did not add mushrooms as requested for on web page.(no option to add when ordering, has to be in the free text box).Mushroom rice was average with a few mushrooms in it perhaps a little dry but plenty of it. Keema nan quite small and meat bland.Cannot really judge a takeaway nan as they are all sweaty from the foil bag.I only live less than one minute from the green so time travelled to get home is discounted.Was really hoping this was going to be special but was...

How lucky are we to have such an amazing restaurant on our doorstep. We are regular visitors to eat in, averaging a 7-10 day visit and that’s for a reason. Can not fault the welcome, the whole team are so friendly and professional and the food is the best Indian cuisine we’ve eaten over almost two years of visiting. If you’ve been and enjoyed it, it deserves a review, if you’ve never been it’s definitely worth a try, I’d be very surprised if you didn’t enjoy the experience. 5*s to Shah and the team, keep up the excellent all round standards and thank you so much for looking after...
