Attended the Manor Hotel in Meriden for a family wedding. From start to finish it was perfect. Great location, plenty of free parking, welcoming friendly staff, efficient check-in, spotlessly clean and tidy throughout public areas, toilets, bars, corridors, wedding rooms and my bedroom. The wedding room was beautifully laid out and decorated, lovely drinks reception outside in the sunshine, wedding meal was on time, piping hot and plenty to eat. They catered well for my gluten free diet all day. Service for the wedding meal was professional, young staff but they knew what they were doing and did it well. Nice Triumph bar at the front of the hotel, again very friendly staff. Bedroom was comfortable and everything you needed for an overnight stay, including nice toiletries, soft towels and a decent hair-dryer. I welcomed the fan in the bedroom as it was a hot weekend and the windows only opened to a certain level. Great food at the wedding evening reception, and a lovely cooked breakfast the day after. All in all, I couldn't fault it. Well done to all the team who worked on 27 - 28 May 2022. Thank you for looking after us all so well on such an important family occasion.

GLUTEN FREE bread / toast and Porridge available at breakfast on request. I ordered poached eggs. The rest of the breakfast was buffet style hot and cold but nothing was marked up as gluten free or containing gluten. From experience catering baked beans can have gluten, hash browns often have gluten or cross contamination from cooking so I skipped the hot buffet. The fruit and yoghurt were naturally gluten free. I didn't notice any other gluten free items. It was very busy at the time we had booked, otherwise I would have asked. I think it would be a good idea to add this information either on the table menu, at the buffet counter or even better on both. I think Midlands hotels have some catching up to do with London hotels where breakfasts typically have gluten free bread, gf pastries, gf muffins, gf biscuits, gf porridge, gf beans, gf hash browns or other potatoes. Also its common in London hotels to have a gluten free areas set up with bread and a separate toaster so that you don't have to wait for the kitchen to provide it. But SOME gluten free items are certainly better than nothing and the food I had was all very lovely so no complaints in that respect.

Lovely place to lodge although the car park may not be spacious when busy. The food is lovely and the service is spot on however my food was getting before it arrives and that of my business partner was too salty. I did enjoyed the atmosphere plus the live band playing and singing lovely old-school music 🎶 to our ears. 🍨 dessert was so nice that I wanted more😋. Oh and I must say, everywhere in the room is clean and neat including the bathroom. The hallway is clean and I felt airs of comfort at the hotel. I definitely will be going back but I will say though it's quality but food and drinks are highly overpriced for such lodge . The chef need to be careful with use of ingredients especially salt.

Smell of sewerage & champagne. Attended the hotel for a wedding so we booked a 2 night stay. Firstly I wish to point out the hotel is a pleasant looking venue from the outside. However, there was a broken sewerage pipe in the front carpark which caused a putrid smell all over the front of the hotel. Considering the hotel expected guest to go outside after the ceremony whilst they adapted the room for the meal was not a pleasant experience. All the guests were commenting on how dreadful the smell was. Champagne and the aroma of sewerage waste does not mix well at all.

The room the wedding reception was held in was ok, nothing to fancy, just very conference like. Definitely lacked something but I can't quite put my finger on it. The food was ok, typical small portions.

The wedding DJ was very bog standard, many of the songs that were requested by guests were greeted with the response "We don't have those songs" and the song choices being played by the DJ were absolutely not what the wedding party would have chosen, dancing and enjoying the evening is a huge part of the day. I'd advise anyone booking a wedding at this venue to book an outside DJ as the hotel in house DJ who is part of the package is definitely not for those who love a good shin dig to dance the night away to.

The receptionist with short black hair did not speak a word to us, without a doubt the coldest welcome we have ever received upon arriving at any hotel (and we are experienced travellers stopping in multiple hotels a month). Whilst needing to sort things out on our arrival including keycards not working we were still not spoken a word to. There was no Hello at all, just a very uncomfortable stare, even with no word spoken to us even though we are always extremely polite, she responded by simply sliding the keycard across the counter to me still glaring. It made us feel unwelcome to say the least. We will not be recommending this hotel to our friends and family just off how uncomfortable this lady made us feel. I then watched how sh welcomed the rest of the wedding guests and she was so rude and ignorant. People asking for directions and she replied many times by shrugging her shoulders. Customer service training is desperately needed for this lady.

On the 2nd morning of our stay we went down for breakfast to be greeted by no food left. We have now received a refund for this, the first morning the breakfast was lovely but sadly having paid for the second breakfast and finding nothing left upon our arrival it has made me wonder if this is a common issue, as other guests were also arriving to no food available. So please note that this is something you may want to keep in mind if travelling with children as it is a huge disappointment.

Bar prices are expensive but this is as per usual for hotels so it's to be expected.

All in all the hotel was mediocre, rooms were ok, rooms were quite warm so the fans inside were an asset to try and cool us down. Cleaning team were friendly and polite, as I say front of house lady on reception was the worst experience of arriving at a hotel I've ever experienced. Nothing special or bringing...

This review is for appleby magna best western close to Measham Derby. I did not visit Birmingham but for some reason it has came up on my contributions. Poor service, at Appleby Park in Appleby magma, arrived at 1,30 an hour and a half before checkin. I was hoping to lock my possessions in a safe place grab a bite to eaf and leave my car on site so I could attend a birthday party nearby that commenced at 2pm also England were to kick off their game at 3pm. ( Check in was 3pm.) We had to drive off to attend the party with my bags in the car. My husband therefore was unable to have a couple of pints while watching the match. We don't drink much but this was a double special occasion. The game ended and we had to drive back to check in. We decided we would try the burger and pint deal they were offering as because of the awkward checkin times we were now missing the family bbq that followed the football. We were told the offer was only valid during the game, although the sign we read said on England Match days. In the end we called our family asked them to save us some food left the car parked up and ordered a taxi. We enjoyed our party and were a little feeble the next morning as we sat for breakfast, the food was OK though and we indulged in the full English which was lovely. However throughout our sitting one staff member was moaning publicly about her workload, boss and clearing the tables loudly while I wilted in the corner hungover. I just wanted peace n quiet but god she didn't stop or didn't care who heard her as she ranted on to her colleague. I felt relieved when we left. I had also attempted to book using the website but it altered my selected dates. An web analysis carried out a session investigation and upheld my claim as a system error was that meant my chosen dates had been overridden and changed on the website. The hotel disputed my claim and refused to refund the date I had not booked. Best Western customer services apologised an reimbursed me but the hotel for me where just too over structured, inflexible and it showed by the attitude of the staff on site. Please note again this is for Appleby Park, Appleby Magma...

Coming up to the NEC to work at motorcycle live we needed a hotel and after looking at a few this seemed to be one of the best, now don't get me wrong it is a really nice hotel, smart, friendly and exceptionally clean.

Well let's start with the good things, the first thing when you turn up, the building looks amazing, well kept and showing off its 4 star status proudly. Next you walk in the front door to get checked in, sign the usual paperwork and get your keycard, the staff at reception are very helpful and have had an answer for every problem so far, (found the key card didn't work the second day, turns out taking it go NEC wipes them, something to do with NEC security) now the rooms, they are clean and tidy, have enough space needed and a clean onsuit bathroom. Breakfast is awesome, cooked really nice then displayed on the center table to help yourself to a choice of pastries, fruits, cereals and cooked along with the drinks also.

Now the bad things, there aren't many, and they aren't big, but I'm a picky person so I'll mention them, first thing is to do with the rooms, I was here on business so was sharing a room with one of my work partners, inside were 2 single beds, I'm a large guy (19-1/2s) and found the duvet to be slightly small, wouldn't cover both sides of me, next, the hotel boasts free WiFi yet in my room I had not a lot of signal, could do with some boosters around the building. Finally the heating in the room, every night so far I have woken up due to being too hot, this is after the first morning, woken up sweating, this morning the same, we have tried to adjust the radiator settings but changed nothing.

Well I'm here for another 7 days so if anything changes I will update the review,

But for now I give it a 4 star for location and the building/rooms 5 star for the staff And 3 star for the food, (the hand made burgers in the Grill were nice, but fell apart on picking up, probably due to padding with to many onions or not...
