Sadly, besides the staff being friendly, there is nothing positive to write about my most recent experience at Oliver's. I have been there several times before, always for coffee though. I decided to book to go for an evening meal on Thursday night for 7 people. It was awful. The evening menu didn't provide much choice and we ended up ordering hamburgers, chicken goujons and pulled pork. The burgers were really bad with terrible patties made of what looked like reconstituted meat. The pulled pork and goujons looked like they could have been bought in those packaged meals you buy in a supermarket. I had booked for dinner because they used to serve steaks - they managed to rustle up a steak for my friend however did not give her a steak knife and so she was trying to cut it with what looked like a butter knife. After asking for a steak knife they managed to find one after rummaging around for it. It was so disorganised that I thought it possible that there was new management and they were still settling in, but I was told that it was the same owners for the past two years. It was also extremely expensive and overpriced for the bad quality and lack of choice. I will definitely not be going back any time soon which is a real shame as I like to support local business. Sorry Oliver's - but a real...

I used to come here often as I am local. I have been a very loyal customer for the past few years. I did previously enjoy the atmosphere and great stuff such as Ben who as since been dismissed for no apparent reason.

I have been visiting another local pub recently as the choice is drinks is much better, the staff are always happy to see me and they have a great atmosphere.

I decided to make a return about 2 weeks ago, accompanied by a few friends. Upon arrival the member of staff Mandy, who I don’t think has ever smiled in her life. She proceeded to state that my brother and I (who lives over an hour away and rarely comes with me) are always rude every time I come to Oliver’s. I am absolutely shocked and offended that a member of staff thinks she has the right to speak to customers this way.

I was previously considering returning to Oliver’s but after this terrible experience, I would not recommend it to anyone. The staff close early and are rude. The music is horribly. I would highly recommend not visiting unless you are happy to be disrespected as a loyal customer by the staff in particular Mandy.

I wish you all the best and hope this place can one day turn around, as once upon a time I did enjoy the atmosphere and...

Oh dear, Oliver's has appeared to have lost its way. Oliver's used to have a nice evening menu involving tapas, cheeses, cold meats and other delicacies, commensurate with an artisan wine bar setting. Now the menu wouldn't look out of place in a Wetherspoon's. What can only be described as frozen junk food such as chicken nuggets and onion rings has replaced what was a quality evening menu. As for soup of the day, it's a tin of Heinz with a 1000% mark up. Even the written presentation of the menu is akin to a roadside cafƩ (not there there's anything wrong with roadside cafes) but Oliver's is (or was) a premium product. Paul Oliver please sort this out and bring back food that compliments your fantastic...

Shocking. Paid over £4 for the worst eggs on toast of my life. Reminded me of what my youngest brother might make himself for breakfast at university. Going out to pay for brunch means you intend to find something better than what you could make at home - hence willing to pay more for it. I could have bought a whole loaf of this bread and a box of 6 eggs for half the price they marked it up to. I understand times are tough at the moment but that's even more of a reason to serve a product that people will be happy to pay for and happy to give recurring custom.

We was a group and they looked after us all very well just right I’d say as I’ve had experiences where the staff hover most off putting but here they did not they got on with what they where doing but just popped over when was needed so very very pleasant I’d never been here before so I was reserved about it but yes have to say it was fantastic so Thanku all for a very pleasant experience

First visit today and I liked it. Nice friendly atmosphere, staff and service were great. Being lunchtime it was obviously busy but we were able to get a table and we didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks. A further plus is it is dog friendly. I'd happily recommend to friends and will return again. Thank you.
