I had the pleasure of dining at the Cherry Tree Pub, and it was a quintessential British pub experience. The ambiance was truly authentic, with dark wooden beams, cozy nooks, and that charming, slightly worn feel you'd expect from an old English pub.

Now, when it came to the Sunday roast, the menu didn't disappoint. They offered a selection of beef, chicken, lamb, and pork, and for the truly audacious, a combination of all of the above. Being American, I couldn't resist trying the mixed roast, and I was pleasantly surprised by the huge portion for a relatively inexpensive price. The dish arrived with a mound of perfectly roasted meat and a variety of traditional sides.

However, there was one minor hiccup in this otherwise delightful experience. The Yorkshire pudding was slightly overdone and dry, which was a bit disappointing. But hey, I suppose it's a minor quibble when you're served such a hearty meal.

One thing I didn't expect was the longer wait for my food, but that gave me plenty of time to enjoy the quaint charm of the pub.

What truly stood out, though, was the friendly and attentive staff. They made sure I felt welcome and attended to my needs with a level of hospitality that made me appreciate the Cherry Tree Pub even more. It was a delightful taste of British culture and cuisine, and I'd gladly return for another Sunday roast, despite the minor...

I don’t like to have to do this but the whole evening made me feel uncomfortable. We showed up to a fairly empty pub. It took 15 minutes for us to be taken to our seats after the manager had walked past several times trying to pass us off to another server that was busy. We had a round of starters which were lovely. However, 2 hours later we finally receive our main course. One meal for the table was forgotten it seemed as it turned up 15 minutes after the rest of the mains when re requested and was also the wrong order, my fillet steak arrived, asked for it medium rare, got a grey steak that looked well done, it wasn’t it was actually so far gone off that it was that colour, tasted of tuna not steak, I was so confused I asked someone else to taste it to check it tasted like a tuna steak completely. The chef tasted it and agreed it was completely gone off. £28 for that fillet steak and it was rotten. When I tried to give feedback on it the manager made it seem as if it was nothing to worry about and that “I’d be fine” and she brought a different dish, the dish she brought was lovely to be fair. A few items were removed from the tab but for 3 hours of my time and £140 spent I felt I’ve wasted time and money on this evening for it to be ruined. The servers were absolutely lovely and the rest of the food was up to class but these other things ruined the...

So sad, I booked a table for Wednesday lunchtime for my wife's birthday and got a confirmation email, respectfully noting that we only had a 2 hour slot from 12 pm. 3 days before our booking, I received another email asking me to confirm that I still wanted the table, which I duly did. When we arrived, we discovered that there was no heating and the restaurant was freezing. In fact, while we were there, a total of 10 customers arrived, including us and 3 babies! And 2 ate with their coats on! We shared soft-shell crab with chimmichurri sauce and guacamole, which we both enjoyed and is something that we don't often see here. My wife had the homemade pie of the day, venison, with mustard mash, greens, Carrot and red wine gravy. She noted that the mash was not seasoned, using half the pepper pot to correct, and the Carrot was hiding in the pie! It was only later that she realised why the mash was so bland, no mustard. I ordered the whole Cornish Lemon Sole, with crab bisque, peas, caper, tomato concasse, samphire, fries. The fish was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I am still waiting for the fries and peas! As soon as she finished eating, my wife put on her coat, she had refused to wear it while eating, and left to get in the car to warm up. I am left totally confused, were we just unlucky or is this a poor restaurant that...

I went to pick up my husband from Gatwick today, and I wanted to find a nice place to have a late lunch before driving back home. So I decided to try this place. It turns out to have been the right thing to do. They asked us where we wanted to sit as it was a lovely day, and they had tables outside in the back garden/patio. We had two starters with focaccia, I ordered the T-bone stake, and my husband had the lamb shank. Everything so far was amazing! Including the service and the attention to details. They really wanted to make sure we had the best experience. The stake was really tasty, blue like I wanted, and I really enjoyed their triple cooked chips. We were absolutely full but decided to have the dessert as well. We ordered the crumble and the panna cotta. The panna cotta was absolutely incredible! I really did not expect to be so good and also well presented. Very colourful, and the perls burst in your mouth, releasing a really well-balanced taste. We have decided to come back every time we land at Gatwick. It's going to be our tradition from now on. And why not? Maybe we will do an extra journey just to enjoy their food and the nice atmosphere. Well done to everyone's but a very deserved well done to the head waiter (? I am not sure if this was his position. You did a great job!
