I booked 2 rooms at this hotel for a one night stay and the price included breakfast. Upon arrival we were shown to our rooms which were acceptable. One room had a cupboard containing numerous tubs of pot noodles and porridge tubs, all of which were out of date. We were confused by this but not unduly concerned. We then went down to the bar hoping to get something to eat but were told the kitchen was closed. Never mind, we went to a nearby location and got something there. We then left the hotel to attend a family event which was the purpose of our trip. We eventually returned at about 11.30om only to find we were prevented from accessing the car park by members of a band who had been performing at the hotel. This necessitated us waiting for over half an hour to get to the car park, one of our party is a 91yr old lady who found the whole experience very distressing. The following morning we went to the dining room for breakfast only to find a table with loaves of bread and a toaster. No butter or preserves to go on it, just empty plates. An elderly lady at another table had brought a kettle of water down from her room in order to make a drink and another gentleman had driven to a nearby car boot sale in order to buy bacon sandwiches for his party. It quickly became apparent that there were no staff on the premises. Totally unacceptable situation and I would definitely not...
Read moreRoom was spacious and well decorated, included a long mirror which can so often not be included. Bed was super comfortable and it was a great location to the venues we were attending locally. Lovely greeting on arrival and tasty well cooked breakfast in the morning. Not so great was the lack of any USB points and water in the room, but was provided the water on request and graciously our greeter let us borrow their own charger for a few hours. ♥ The shower hot and cold water was wrongly plumbed in so they were reversed to what's shown on the tap - a relief when realised this and could finally shower :) Not sure that this is bad, but there doesn't seem to be any staff available on site overnight, and only the chef there in the morning for breakfast. Whilst the room met our expectations there can be some simple easy improvements made, like some hooks behind the bathroom to hang towels when showering or by the sink. Or more significant changes like widen the shower cubicle (which is tight fit) by extending it towards the unused gap by the toilet. I understand its under new management so it'd be good to see some improvements made to a venue with such a...
