Visited 22/4/2016. A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE At 13:15 pm ordered 2 Lasagne's and 2 teas for my wife and I. After serving my wife I was told that my lasagne would be ready in a few minutes (after waitress checked in the kitchen). We waited a few minutes and after being prompted to pay for the whole order I suggested to my wife that since her plate wasn't very warm she should join 4 of our friends outside to eat her meal whilst it was warm. I declined an offer for my meal to be delivered to our table since it was in a distant corner of the courtyard outside. Within minutes it was suggested that I should sit down at a table adjacent to the counter ( I was perceived to be blocking access to the counter for other customers? ). After sitting down and waiting for my meal for 12 minutes after ordering it I decided that if it hadn't arrived within a further 3 minutes I would ask for my money back. After a further 2 minutes the waitress approached me and announced it would be at least 10 more minutes before it was ready. On asking for my money back; no apology was offered, so I advised the person in charge of returning my money that in future they should advise customers how long it was likely to take to prepare meals if they were not available on the counter. He seemed surprised that I had not been told how long I might have to wait. So by the time I got to my wife she had...

Giving an extremely generous two stars as the people serving inside were totally pleasant but that's all.
We waited quite a long time to be served as only one person serving and even just a few people in front of us made it so it took five to ten minutes to just order our coffees and get a beer.
The two coffees barely tasted like coffee. More like hot water with soy milk and cost 3.50 each. I didn't drink it.
The worst thing was when sitting outside I could easily count seven tables with plates and other cuttlery left over . Big black birds were hanging around pecking leftovers from the tables. I never saw anyone come out during the 30 minutes to 45 minutes I was there come out to clean up.
Seriously needs improvement. The two stars are purely for the...
Read moreThis self-service restaurant is the only place at Tatton Park that serves cooked meals as well as breakfasts and light snacks, and it can get very busy. Plenty of outside tables. They serve meat from animals reared on the estate, and vegetables and herbs grown in the kitchen garden. I had the chicken with fennel and herbs, delicious flavour but rather dry and the veg was overcooked and lukewarm. They do serve cream teas and some nice cakes, and the coffee is very good. You can also get lager, cider and small bottles of wine. Convenient for a quick lunch, snack or drink but the cooked lunch was disappointing and it was...
