Nice riverside dining pub. Good selection of beers and spirits. Nice interior with lenty of wood beams, plus table and chairs are all based around the traditional dark wood theme as is the case with an old style public house. I flaw though, and that is the food is generally on until 9pm but if quiet the restaurant does close a little early, therefore if you arrive after 8pm you are not always guaranteed a meal. Also, it is a bit disappointing that if the pub is quiet, usually midweek, they will shut the pub early. It might save them an hour or so in wages, but it has now cost them my future business. I don't like to go for a drink and play "guess the closing time." Beer is a little pricey for the area (pint of lager is £4.45). The pub up the road is £1 less, but the difference is you feel safe here. You don't feel there will be any trouble and sometimes that is worth spending the extra money for that...
Read moreBarmaid on her own was lovely and apologetic, 3 of us had lunch, a lot of the menu was unavailable, it took half an hour to arrive, unfortunately the food was inedible. The £9.95 Sharing Platter everything was hard like it was yesterday's, flatbread like chewing rubber, chix wings overly crispy hard, dry meat, pick up a chip from bowl all came together as one lump couldn't break chip away, mozzarella sticks overcooked and chewy. The £9.95 Steak & Ale pie meal had a burnt puff lid, didn't fit the small oval dish fell off and crumbled, underneath was watery gravy with 3 pieces of unchewable meat, broccolli not cooked. The £6.85 plate of Nachos was one solid lump. The lady explained it could have been cooked this morning and kept under a food lamp, hence dry food, (this was 1.45pm). We were refunded for the Sharing Platter. Never again, too expensive, shame as...
Read moreWe tried New Inn out on Saturday night for dinner and honestly couldn’t fault a thing. The food was exceptional. The pork belly bites were absolutely outstanding, the scotch egg was top notch, and the prawns were equally delicious. We also had the Big Sam burgers for main which were spot on. Proper hearty pub grub done right. Service was brilliant. James, our server, was really attentive and made sure we were well looked after. Katie behind the bar was quick, friendly, and clearly great at her job.
It’s clear the Clayton family, who’ve recently taken over, have completely turned the place around. The pub now has a warm, welcoming feel and is genuinely an outstanding spot to visit, especially for the food. The location right next to the canal just tops it off.
A great evening all round. We’ll...
