We have visited twice, once on Friday 09 September and once today on 11th September. We have been coming to this pub for six years running, I’m afraid I doubt we will be returning any time soon.

On Friday, our visit was faultless - we had lovely food and service.

Today however was a totally different story. The service was nonexistent, we ended up going to the bar to order drinks after 15 minutes of waiting at the table, and then had to inform the waitress that the table behind us were also waiting for service, if we had not she would have walked off. The food was passable - we all had Sunday roasts with questionable vegetables (carrots, red cabbage and courgettes) which were bland, clearly no effort had been put into the cooking/preparation. One of our party then had a lemon “cheesecake” which while it was certainly lemony, it was definitely not a cheesecake - more of a lemon jelly which was inedible. All in all we were extremely disappointed with our visit and will certainly hesitate to return.

Take my advice - there are lovely pubs in Brockenhurst, visit them instead for better food...

What a wonderful little gem we found on a day out in the new forest. It was an impromptu day out we had we had been to lots of different places on our day and we were tired and hungry, it hadn't crossed my mind we should of booked for our evening meal and everywhere we tried were full so we decided to sit and call a few pubs before going for a chippy supper, by chance google gave us the number for this one, they were so friendly on the phone they managed to sort a table for us. When we pulled up and parked in the ample car park we could see it looked very much a locals pub so in we went, we were greeted at the door by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. The menu u had a lovely choice of food and a good veggie choice, nothing was to much trouble as I wanted different potatoes. The food looked and tastes home cooked and a good straight from the oven, puddings again a good choice and homemade. In the pubs dogs are also very welcome with a range of dog beds to use, hanging up were glasses you could borrow if you have forgotten yours, news to read. If your in the area give it a try you...

I decide write this bad comment today because is the 3nd time in last 6 months i feel the good service gone! I’m a regular client since 4years ago and last 3 times been so bad and always a try understand people have bad days for try understand the yah that lady treat us but today again she been so rude and miserable and I decide this time not eat and go away and I’m not looking to back anymore .. she really don’t care about the customer always with a rude attitude and even if we have booking or not her attitude looks like she don’t like see a full house … i understand is busy and stressful but end the end of the day is the customers paying her bills !!! I don’t know her name but is the one blonde and blue eyes.. anyway the restaurant is amazing the place is lovely that’s why we drive all way from Poole to have great time at this place and recommend all time to our friends and take our family there when come to visit us in England .. but look is like that is not will happen anymore unfortunately.. that lady ruins the business and is so sad because we love...

Visiting on a rainy Sunday evening, I was warmly welcomed as soon as I entered the door and offered a choice of tables. Before heading to my table I was asked what drink I would like. Delightfully they offer 3 different ciders which is nice. Soon after sitting down my cider was bought over to me. Food wise I went for the Beef Lasagna, which after a short while arrived. I can only say that it was one of the best I have ever had. It was rich, tasty and filling. The garlic bread was also delicious, so far so good. I was then tempted in to having sticky toffee pudding, which was equally delicious. The bill came to £26 which I thought was very reasonable. The staff here are wonderfully welcoming and warm, being very helpful. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone visiting the area!!

Nice pub. Nice food. Good choices for vegetarians and also some vegan dishes. GF options as well I believe. Friendly staff. Food portions for adults are generous in my opinion. Kids menu available if you need it. Read the menu info (menu photo 4) about food allergies & check on that if applicable! Loads of tables for dining inside and also outside (front & back) on nice weather days. Large, gravelled car park. Toilets were clean and everything worked. Play zone for smaller kids out back on the lawned area. A great choice for some tasty, well cooked and presented pub grub if you're in the area. Dog friendly (keep Muttley on a short lead). Recommended and I'd happily visit again.

Really cute pub which is very dog friendly. There is a spacious carpark next door so it's easy to access. There are many tempting options on the menu, but going on a Sunday I was tempted by the three meat roast, which includes turkey, beef and pork. You get an enormous Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, plenty of fresh vegetables as well as roast potatoes cooked to absolute perfection. Only warning it is a lot of food, but when it's that good, you just need to find room for it! Sadly due to how full I was, there was no space for dessert
