We couldn't even get into reception upon arrival as the doors were locked. We were only allowed in as a chef happened to step outside and noticed that we were there after ten minutes. Upon getting into the room, we found (what we hoped were) curry stains all over the sheets. When we told the host, they were quickly replaced, but not before he told us over and over that they weren't at fault because they use an external cleaning company that was letting them down. This made me respect them less than if they had just apologised and replaced them. ||The sofa in the room only had three legs, meaning I actually fell off of it when I first tried to sit. None of the lamps worked and only half of the ceiling lights worked. Upon showering, the bathroom filled with water as the shower obviously wasn't sealed properly. No toiletries were supplied despite them being advertised. Hair dryer and iron were only available upon request, but we couldn't acquire them in the morning as the restaurant (and thus reception) was closed. ||The room was very warm, which we were very happy with due to the weather, but the positives end there. The rooms door opens straight on to the road, which I found rather off putting as the sounds of cars were very loud. Also, not a critique on the hotel at all, but the nearby bus stop to get into Newark-on-Trent doesn't actually exist, and requires crossing a busy main road with no crossing to get to where it should be. ||The restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. The service was incredible and it is some of the best Indian food I've ever had, with a gorgeous interior and a heated outdoor bar area. It's a pity they don't take the same pride in their hotel as they do...

So, tonight! 25.01.25. My daughters arranged a surprise 60th birthday party at the Ashiana. The restaurant put on a large table for us and it WAS a surprise! There were 16 of us, and the service was not only friendly and accommodating but also pretty quick considering the number. The food itself was top notch again and plenty of it. Everything was flavoursome, fresh tasting and hot. As the Ashiana serves such good food, it was busy, but this did not detract from a great atmosphere overall. Another great night out here. 😁👍
Venue 5☆. Very nice room. Airy, well appointed and attractive. Food 6☆. Another 'we're lucky in Newark' post. So many good Asian / Indian restaurants in Newark and Ashiana is right at the top with the others. Tikka massalla, shaslik, special mix massalla and bahari murgh. All excellent and decent portion sizes. Side orders all just as good. Service 4.5☆. Not problem with the actual service it just took a bit longer than expected. Part may be due to it being busy and that the food seemed to seem very fresh and 'clean'! Value 4.5☆. No problems with quality or portion sizes. But, it's not cheap! Will not stop us going again. Overall, highly...
