Pleasant for a pint sat by the river... Take the kids, the dog & gran to eat. Quiet at the right time of day. Saturdays, when weather nice, plenty of people enjoying a bite to eat outside. It's an old pub, with plenty of character. Beams & games room. Nice views across the river. Other rooms & dinning available (both inside & out) front and rear ( depending where the sun is? There's plenty of tables..... so far the🍺🍺 good... One on my tour when time permits.... 🐕🐕 walking along the river side. "Bring a towel to dry the dog". 🌳🌲🌳 Green rating. 🤓 {Noise pollution 🙉 = minimal. The odd boat passes, but little traffic noise. 👍👍👍

Beautiful setting by the river & all happy to try somewhere new, we were greeted by a bar lady who really looked like she didn’t want to be there, let alone serve us. We had 2 drinks & ordered a panini each. £8 was extortionate as the ingredients used were most definitely cheap. I’d go back, but only because the setting is beautiful & only for a drink - not food. Shame as always try to support small businesses & understand how difficult it is to make a profit but with such miserable bar service & serving up cheap food; it’s no wonder some places struggle.

Really great pub grub and brilliantly kept draught ale, all with a fabulous Riverside garden! Staff were lovely, but the only downside was the wait to be served as we were sat away from the pub and got overlooked a couple of times. On the plus side they also had blankets washed after every use, so perfect for when the wind got up a bit!

We’d book for 9 people and our tables were ready when we arrived. We ordered drinks and were brought the menus. Ordered our food and someone came to check a couple of the orders. Slightly long wait but not that much however, meals were brought out in either 2’s or just 1 with a long wait in between. It took about 20 minutes to get from the first meal brought out to the last one. The sausage and mash came with 3 burnt sausages and chips so it was sent back. More sausages were brought but they were also burnt and the mash was half scorching hot and half really cold. The gammon came with chips and a small amount of peas, it was ordered with no chip so was sent back. It took ages for it to come back, the fried eggs were ok and the gammon was only ok too. The bar lady was as very good and did apologise for the delay with our food. The waitress serving us appeared to be getting rather uncomfortable with the time it took to serve up as well. We weren’t charged for the sausage and mash meal but we won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend it if you are a party of probably more than 2. The only redeeming feature was the setting...

My family and I went to the pub at 6:40 pm on a Wednesday in August and only ordered drinks. The waitress told us that a group of 20 people was arriving soon and that the kitchen was closed until further notice. Unfortunately, the blonde waitress wasn’t very friendly, even after we explained that my parents had come all the way from Barcelona and that the pub had been highly recommended to us. Since no one could guarantee we would be served food, we decided to go to another pub in Newark-on-Trent. It’s a shame they were so unwelcoming — we were really looking forward to having dinner there. If you want to avoid a disappointing experience like mine, I recommend calling ahead to check if they’re open and if you’ll definitely be able...
