I very much like to support our local pub and have to applaud the young couple who have invested their time and money opening this pub and bringing it back to life for the community. Without question the food is excellent, but I’m sorry to say the very casual management, and their approach to children and dogs is not pleasant. We have visited a few times since the opening but I’m afraid this evening’s visit will be our last. Having ordered a starter, that was forgotten about and the main came. In both parts of the pub there was a dog (I prefer not to dine with dogs - especially on the adjoining table), however, the dogs were actually much better behaved than the family on the adjoining table who were so noisy we decided not to stay for a desert as by then our hopeful pleasant meal out had been ruined by the very exceptional noise. Maybe we are expecting too much, but having to eat with dogs next to us (however we’ll behaved) and also other diners who have no conception of what behaviour / noise is acceptable from their children, and dare I say, also parents, makes a meal out, despite the lovely food, not a pleasant experience. My suggestion would be that half of the pub can be for dogs and children and the other half for adult dining. So sorry to be negative when the owners are doing their best to develop the lub’s potential, but this evening’s meal experience was certainly not pleasant...

Recently refurbished, we dropped in on a Sat evening for a pint.

There was a good atmosphere and a good selection of beers available. We ordered some drinks and some ‘bar snacks’ to go with.

The interior looks fresh and new but there was pools of beer all over the bar, and the table was swimming too. No sign of beer mats or napkins.

The food arrived quickly (Onion rings and Cheesy Chicken Nachos) but it quickly became apparent that the kitchen was struggling as much as the bar staff. The Onion still had all its layers of skin on...very hard to remove after it had been battered and fried! The Nachos were amature to say the least. A bag of cheap doritos with cheddar sprinkled over the top. The cheese was almost melted too...almost!? My 7 year old could have done better.

The pub looks great from the outside, but the offerings inside certainly didn’t make us want to come back for more.

A shame really, I hope we just caught them...

We have had a mixed experience. Friday we had an amazing takeaway with a couple of pizzas and burger of the week. They were really good easily 4 stars.

We decided to go back today for Sunday lunch and it was very poor. Burnt yorkshires, veg just a tad off being raw and fatty pork with rind hidden underneath for the crackling. It was really disappointing and felt like the staff knew it wasnt great, as nobody asked how the food was or if we had enjoyed it just brought us the bill. It seemed a few plates from other tables were going back quite full so presumably others felt the same which was a shame after our experience earlier in the week and reviews. Not sure if the chef was away...

After a walk in Stapleford woods we stopped here for lunch and are very glad we did. A lovely spot for food and drink in coddington. We had a roast chicken dinner and three small plates with a side of chips. Small plates included whipped feta with flatbread, halloumi fries and bang bang chicken. Taste and presentation of food was excellent. Good quality for the price. There was a really nice atmosphere and staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Will come back again! Thank you :)

On entering the Plough, I found it to be light, spacious, and welcoming. We chose to have Black Sheep as it was on tap at £4.40 a pint (a little steep for a Northerner) and again, found this well looked after and thoroughly enjoyable. For food, we had fish and chips and Pork Gyros. Again, both of which were spot on. The Gyros was perhaps a little too big and could feed two people easily, and that's coming from someone with a large appetite!! Verdict: top notch!

First time visit, good first impressions. Can't say the service was five stars, as that would make it sound pretentious; but, I can say it was warm, welcoming and professional. Food was lovely, though personally I would have liked toasted bread for my sausage sandwich, as it was a little limp and fell on to the board. That aside, as you can see, as good a taste as it looked.
