Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Really not sure if the staff have been trained sufficiently. The order was wrong... our Caramel Cortado, was just a regular one and was very bitter tasting of burnt coffee beans, rather than being smooth and luxurious. The Latte was nice but the Cappuccino again was bitter. The cheese and beans sandwich tasted stale and was tough to bite with the underneath being coated in the burnt remains of a previous sandwich. And the Blueberry muffin was also stale. A coffee house best to avoid really. Not the first time we've been disappointed here sadly, and the staff are very noisy when cleaning around, we also saw a dirty tray being taken from the side sugars station and being placed on top the tray stack to be used next without it even being wiped. Although predominantly aimed at coffee lovers, I used to be one, I found that there as plenty of range for non coffee drinkers. I asked how much sugar content was in each iced drink and despite not knowing, the lady serving me didn't think twice about searching for the answer in their folders. The service at Costa in Freeport has always been good. There is always plenty of seating both inside the shop and out on the precinct floor. Even when busy, I can sit in the shop drinking my drink without feeling as if the person on the next table is sat...

Chap who took our order was very polite and pleasant. Was served by Barista Abby for our coffee today. When she was ready to put the coffee cup on the tray she noticed I was walking with a stick. She instantly offered to take the tray to the table for me which was so kind and made me happy as I was worried about carrying it. She even cleared away our table and was just so bubbly and friendly. Staff were a real credit to Costa at Affinity Outlet today - well done...
