When this place first opened it was amazing, we then continued to go back and we then noticed that it was going further and further downhill. I find that their main menu food is fine such as the burgers but the carvery is awful! I'm not really a carvery lover at the best of times and we stopped going to The Tobey because that was also going rapidly downhill. Me and the family had planned to visit our local pub across the road from us for a Sunday roast however, annoyingly they had sold out so my parents suggested this place. I knew there was a pretty high chance I wasn't going to like it and my guess was right - I had the turkey and the beef, the turkey was full of gristle and the beef was tasteless.
The veg was also questionable and just generally not nice, the whole plate was just tasteless mush and so I ended up pushing most of it to one side, the tastiest part was the gravy! The only positive I can say and the reason I have given 2 stars instead of just 1, is the fact that all the staff we encountered that day were happy and friendly so it's a shame that the food lets them down so badly, we won't be visiting again sadly as it was just a waste of money for me when due to the cost of living crisis, eating out at restaurants is a rare treat these days! Save your money and...
Read moreWell, I keep giving this place a chance, iv visited the restaurant over many many years. I'm so so sorry to say it's getting worse. They cut the meat with a razor blade. The roast potatoes which I love are like rubber. I mean RUBBER. I went a few Sunday's ago, around 5pm. The food was to stop at 8.30pm. No meat except turkey. No beef, no pork, no gammon. All gone. The Turkey I got was shredded. Extremely small amount, obviously they had to make it last until the food stopped. You pay more on a sunday because they add pork to the catvary. The food dishes were empty or almost empty. A man in front of me asked if there was and mashed potatoes?. I had to take the hot lid off the roast potatoes behind the empty dish. Yes you got it, plastic roasties again. A member of staff came out of the kitchen. The carver and the guy who came out started to argue. It was manic. I live alone and came for a take out, I got a box, no gravy carton or bag. I got my food home and I am not lying I ate 2 mouths full and the rest went in the bin. Iv said it for the last time. I AM NOT GOING BACK. I feel bad putting this as it's harmful to their business and might affect jobs and I'm not that kind of person but I'm not wasting another...

🍔 Hunter’s Chicken Burger This burger was an absolute showstopper. Juicy grilled chicken breast wrapped in crispy bacon, smothered in rich, smoky BBQ sauce, and topped with perfectly melted cheese — all hugged by a soft, toasted bun. Every bite was packed with bold, comforting flavour. The balance of sweet, savoury, and smoky was simply next level.
🍛 Chicken Tikka Masala Creamy, fragrant, and bursting with authentic spices, the tikka masala was a total triumph. Tender chunks of chicken swimming in a velvety tomato-based sauce that had just the right kick — not overpowering, but warming and deeply satisfying. Paired with fluffy rice and warm naan, this dish was the definition of comfort food with flair.
