Today we were looking for somewhere to eat. Put in pubs and google show this pub. We arrived to find a quaint little pub, sat down and on the menu was Sunday roast section, I saw traditional beef with Yorkshire pud. It's been awhile since I had a good one in a pub. I must say the best ever Yorkshire pud I've had in years. The whole meal was delicious, the beef melted in your mouth , crispy potatoes. Services was on point, friendly ,helpful. History of the area on the walls aswell, which visiting from Australia we found interesting.

What you can see in the picture is an XL Mixed Grill for £16! £16 for a mixed grill to that size and cooked perfectly, what more could you want? Everything on the menu was priced so cheaply, but the quality was top notch. Monday - Wednesday even a sirloin steak was only £10. Food came quick, and came with that hot plate which offered that sizzling sound everyone enjoys. Well worth a visit, pub atmosphere with sport on with top quality food. Parking can be a nightmare, but other than that 10/10

Eat your heart out London pubs. The menu, apologies for bad quality pics, are unbelievable. And the service is typical South Wales wonderful hospitality. Also, Fuller and Green Man pubs in London, look at the prices. And I know about rents, etc ... but .... If you driving through Wales ... come off the M4 and visit the Man of Gwent.

Me and my friends went there for food. The greeting was quite cold and not welcoming. We then sat down at our table after the women behind the bar just pointed to our table and we ordered our food and drinks straight away. Whilst waiting, we noticed the women behind the bar just stood there chatting and no urgency to make our drinks. They took so long to make our drinks, our food came out first! We then had to ask the one helpful young man who brought our food if we could have our drinks with our food. Drinks finally came half way through the meal. We then popped outside for 10 mins (a smoke) and I left my bag there to show the table was still occupied, the waitress came, took out over half full drinks and sprayed the table! We notified the women and they did give us fresh drinks but we still had to wipe the wet table off ourselves in order to sit there!!

Overall, the women there seemed judgey and not welcoming or helpful at all but the young, dark haired man running the food from the kitchen was very attentive.

Not the experience we were...

Have been eating here for years, with friends and family, Apart from being generally a bit run down & unclean toilets. always found the staff there very welcoming and friendly with ok food at a very reasonable. Went in for Lunch on Saturday (with party of 5) There was a female staff member behind the bar , talking to what looked like a customer who was drinking there, It seemed like a big inconvenience for her to serve us ,with a very unprofessional attitude, we got drinks then went back to the bar to order food ,this condersending attitude continued ,we asked to speak to the manager ,were abruptly told "I am the manager ",then sarcastically said "good bye have a good day". We left and went to another local pub ,where the Food staff and service were excellent. (Our new venue) It's a pity how easily one staff member with obviously no training or people skills can lose a business long term custom . Would Never go...

We only went there as I received an email with a 30% off food voucher. I just wish I'd looked at the receipt before we left as is been charged for an extra large diet coke @£2.35 to go in the Tia Maria I'd had. So check your receipt before leaving as I always have to ask (in any place not just here) for them to stop as they are adding coke to my Tia Maria as I don't want it drowned in coke, as I like to taste what drink I'm having! I had only a small amount of coke & nothing like an extra large coke! That added a large chuck to our bill so the saving of 30% didn't constitute the charge of £2.35 that I paid for a dash of coke! Very disappointed. The food was average as normal & thrown together rather quickly as we waited almost an hour to have it when I was told only half an hour when ordering. I think it will be a while before we go back again. The greyhound up the top of Christchurch is a far...
