Second week in a row eating here so will review both visits. 1st time we were looking for somewhere to have a nice meal following a day out in Cardiff. Called Shoboraj at 1800 on a Saturday and a very helpful chap managed to squeeze us in. Second visit was yesterday where we took the coeliac, gluten intolerant, elderly Father in Law out for dinner. Parking - Parking was easy and there is lots of available spaces both outside the restaurant and in nearby side streets. Initial thoughts - Restaurant was clean & tidy and the team provided a warm welcome. Decor was traditional and inviting with well spaced tables providing ample room (not squeezed in likensome places). Drinks - Excellent wine list and good selection of beers, soft drinks, spirits etc. Menu - A good selection of both traditional and innovative options.The menu options were smaller than other restaurant in the area which Is unusually indicative of better quality as less ingredients need to be stored. The food - Where to start on my first visit I had a chicken takeaway Balti which was served in a cast iron Korai. The taste was exquisite with the herbs and spices clearly fresh and prepared correctly (none of the musty/bland aged spices you get in some place). Good quality meat all served with a fresh Naan and a selection of sides. On the Second Visit I plumped for the Thali which was the equivalent of anything I've eaten on Brick Lane. Fresh, tasty and a fantastic mix. My Father in Law was concerned as a Celiac/Gluten intolerant elderly gentleman that his needs might not be made, the actuality was the opposite. The friendly waiter took the time to go through the menu with an allergy book and selected the lamp chops with him. On arrival lamb chops were phenomenal and in his own words "the best lamb I've eaten in 81 years", he's still waxing lyrical this morning and want to go back tonight and eat them again. 10 out of 10 for food. Service - Impeccable, professional attentative staff who are knowledgeable about the food and happy to offer advice, good quality tableware and furniture and toilets so clean you could eat your food in them.

Sadly will never visit here again, never experienced such rudeness in my life, service was absolutely shocking after being sat down and had to wait nearly 25 mins to have a order taken while they wasn’t busy and stood talking, they even spoke in Bengali about how we are waiting lucky the my partner who is Bengali understood and she translated, when we asked for water they brought me a large glass and then my partner a smaller glass and disregarded her yet every other couple in the restaurant and table had the same size glass and had a much more friendly and personal service, the way they kept staring at us all night made us feel extremely awkward and unsettling. At the end of the day it’s a modern age in a multicultural society and any culture and any two people can be together. no one should experience the level of racism we had, then when ordering food my partner wanted more rice and they simply replied to her “you don’t need that love” so I ordered the same thing right away and they replied “yes sir no worries” I was absolutely disgusted. I have eaten here for 10 years and always been greeted with friendly atmosphere but really gone down hill and sadly they bring culture between their customer service. No one did they thank for the custom but couldn’t get us out the door quick enough. We generally rather them say we wasn’t welcome than make our evening unpleasant and uncomfortable. Will never visit again I hope they close down and learn that they can’t treat people this way, they should keep culture and personal views out the workplace especially when we are in a Morden age where it’s normal for multicultural people to...

Customer service is abysmal and they are a bunch of con artist.

As a first time customer as you do, search and go to company website via good old google all address is correct. I checked the menu on the website and rang them with the number provided on the menu and made my order.

When the order arrived I was charged almost £5 more than what I calculated. Yes I payed up as the driver confirmed thats the charge as I wasn't given a price on the phone.

When I rang up to query this, I was met with hostility on the phone and was told different price to what's on the menu I had seen and was given a different website to order from next time.

Before I had the chance to ask why is facebook page and google showing different website they hung up on me and blocked my number. So I rang with my second phone and asked the question and phone was hung up again. Food was average and did not compensate for the extortionate price and the customer service was too poor for me and prompt me to write this review. Avoid this restaurant if you value your money and yourself, plenty of fairly priced and good food in the newport area. Never...
