Never in my life have I ever experienced customer service this poor.
I am absolutely disgusted by how Andrea treats customers in this place.
Not a good look for the company when the manager is discriminating and singling out customers to have ‘chats’ with them about their opinions on the pub.
In my opinion and many other locals I have spoke to, this pub was better when the previous landlord owned it and I was in conversation with a friend about this on Saturday night.
Sunday afternoon I stopped by the pub and walked to the bar, plenty of customers stood around when Angela decides to point at me and state ‘we need to have a chat’ in front of customers.
She singled me out to try and sit me down by the front door of the pub, with other customers dining around, and decided to try and give me a stern talking to about my view on the pub in front of other customers. Firstly if she wanted this conversation she should’ve taken me somewhere private, off the floor away from other customers. But this shows the start of how unprofessional she is…
Andreas attitude is disgusting and absolutely appalling, especially to regular customers. I think she forgets I am a customer and tries to speak to me like she talks to her employees. Unacceptable and unprofessional.
People were looking over as they watched the manager of the pub get irate at the table all because she doesn’t agree with my opinion and thinks the pub is better under her management.
No way would she ever discriminate anybody else and single them out in front of other customers the way she did to me. I’m mortified and disgusting by the diabolical behaviour of someone who is supposed to be professional and welcoming. She never says hello, doesn’t talk and is always moody and grumpy. I’ve watched her argue with other customers and scrunch her face up as they turn their backs and walk away.
I think this woman needs some training on people skills and people management and how customers SHOULD be treated. I’m very sure the way Andrea spoke to me was unacceptable and has now made me feel uncomfortable to go to my local pub which I have gone to for 15 years of my life because she took it personal that I thought the pub was better under the old management.
I can’t explain how disgusted and angry I am by the way she has handled this.
She became very irate and gave off strong signals of a teenage girl attitude.
She started saying ‘dunno why you come here you clearly don’t like it’ and started backchatting to me as if I was her teenage daughter. Don’t know who you think you are andrea.
Staff pour sauce from 1 bottle to another - new sauce to old sauce and this is done on the bar in front of customers! Surely that’s poor hygiene. The landlord spends half her time in the kitchen as they can’t get enough staff to run the place efficiently. No There’s no shame in this place. I mean take a look at the reviews, they speak for themselves.
Food is poor quality, inconsistent and half the time the portion size is questionable for a small child.
Drink prices on the rise every 3/4 weeks for the last 4 months with no justification of a better service being received to justify any increase.
I highly doubt anything will change but people should know how appalling Andrea is treating customers. Totally unacceptable.
She also threatens to ban customers if they question her ‘rules’ ….
I can see her trying to ban me for leaving a review...
Read moreYesterday, my partner and I visited The New Inn for the second time having had a pleasant experience the first. We ordered drinks at the bar and then sat down to order food. We used the Greene King app as I had a Blue Light discount code I wanted to utilise. Our food took longer than normal for a Hungry Horse to arrive but, it did in the end. Sadly, our main course (Crown of Burgers) was not as good as we'd hoped. 2 of the burgers didn't have bacon in as advertised on the menu and the chips were almost cold, however, we persist as we were hungry. We then elected to order dessert. This was ordered on the app at 14:55. By 15:30, they still hadn't arrived. Accompanied by our main course not being to the usual standards, and the length of time it was taking for our dessert to arrive, I elected to complain.
I will admit, my tone was one of frustration and dissatisfaction as there were clearly issues in the kitchen, clearly understaffed and in my view, placing too much emphasis on the Wacky Warehouse element of the venue rather than the bread and butter element which is the pub itself.
I first of all spoke to a lady behind the bar and stated I wished to speak to the highest ranking member of staff. A lady made herself known and asked if I was ok, I said no not really. I then stated how long we've been waiting for our dessert and her immediate response was have you asked for them I said no I shouldn't have to. I stated that they clearly have issues in their kitchen as our main course left a lot to be desired and now this on top. I was then greeted with the fact that they are extremely busy on their Wacky Warehouse side to which I replied that is not your bread and butter this is given the margins on food and drink which I am fully aware of. I was then told emphatically that I know nothing about that business as I do not work there. I was then for wanting a better expression ganged upon by the three members of staff stood behind the bar rather than dealing with my complaint and trying to calm the situation down they simply escalated it by telling me to mind my tone. At no point did I use foul language or shout but still, I was being reprimand for my tone. I was simply annoyed and disappointed at the high standards I am used to receiving in such a venue and the high standard that I received last time has disappeared beyond all recognition.
I will never again set foot in that venue and unless the performance of it increases dramatically I can see other people doing the same. The pub itself was dead for a Thursday afternoon I appreciate it's half-term and therefore a lot of people would be visiting it purely for use of the wacky warehouse to entertain children however this does not excuse the poor level of service received on the day. In addition to this whilst we were eating nobody bothered to come and check if we were satisfied with our food.
The Royal Oak, Gloucester is by far a higher standard in all elements and I will be taking my business...

Despite booking it took an age for anyone to approach the reception area and we were just told to sit anywhere.
We used the order app and not once did anyone tell us the wait for food was well in excess of an hour. All the Sunday options were off order and many removed, and when you went to check out many more then flagged as unavailable so even choosing took some effort! The drinks came out but then we heard nothing for 75 minutes whilst we waited.
When the food was brought out we were told to get forks from the side but there were no any so they had to go and wash some for us.
The food was awful. I didn’t complain because the only visible person was an extremely young looking waitress who was already having complaints thrown at her from every direction, I’d usually have asked for a refund. My steak was ok but the veg in the platter tasted only if burn and gave the impression they’d separated what they thought was edible from a burned mess- and failed. I left that. The rice was the smallest portion I’d ever seen and left because it was so dry it tasted as if it had been left out and reheated and you can’t risk that with rice.
Son’s chips were so solid that no fork could penetrate, and plate had missing items.
Have vouchers but won’t ever head back to this branch- son had requested a meal there for exam results day but has changed his mind.
Two onion rings per portion, soggy.
Toilets grotty and nobody has checked cleans off for the day in the sheet.
No idea why they didn’t just close for the day if that was the best they could staff.
Wish we’d...
