I had heard so much positive about this place I was really looking forward to my visit. Perhaps I just cought them on a bad night. Though we were seated at a table that hadn't been cleaned in a while judging from the general stickiness. In fact I would say that the whole establishment could do with a general clean and tidy. 4 menus were plopped down on the table without any words of welcome or general explanation. Drinks were duly ordered and delivered, one of the party spilled their wine and even though this was witnessed by a member of staff it was ignored and I had to go to the waiter station and ask for "blue roll" to clean up the spillage. I was handed the roll and I duly cleared the spillage. The waiting staff didn't even offer. Spill cleared the waiting staff were good enough to point me toward the bin.

Then the food arrived. My meal could only be described as generally disappointing. The salad accompaniment to the "crispy chicken" was stale, I could easily tell that it was a few days past fresh. The chicken strips themselves were well overcooked they could be snapped broken between my fingers. I had scampi as a main course with garlic "chunky" chips. When cutting the scampi the cooking oil oozed out to the plate and the garlic chips were dried out and brittle. As a suggestion the oil may need changed, the wee black bits in the residue gave this away.

In our party of 4 we unanimously decided we would deffo not be back.

I may have said something. Or made some general comments had I been asked but we managed to pay the (not unsubstantial) bill without being asked if our meal had been...

First time here. I had heard great reviews about it, so we decided to ring and book. We were led downstairs to what I believe to be an old kitchen. The order was taken, and the starters arrived. Very pleased with them. Mains arrived, and for me, that was Turkey and Ham. Ham was lovely, but the Turkey was a bit tough. My husband ordered the roast beef, and when it came, I thought it looked like something out of a shop packet. As my husband started to eat the beef it was pure fat. The top pice was okay, but all the meat underneath was fatty, and the slices were paper thin. When we finished I told the waitress but anyone could see that he hadn't eaten it. Nothing was said, so we paid for the meal and left. Sad really as I was going to book my 60th birthday meal there this month. Maybe they will learn something from...

Went for a meal with my husband and two kids to celebrate his Birthday. Although we are quite local, we have never been to the Dufferin before however, I have a feeling we will be back pretty soon!! Great selection on the menu, food was piping hot and everything had a really home-made look and taste. Dessert selection was also superb and different from the 'norm' that you get everywhere else. The lady that served our table was really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, definitely a big thumbs up for service. Live music was just starting in the bar area as we were leaving, looks like a lovely spot for a drink. Nothing negative at all to say about this place, really hit the spot and everyone agreed that we would be back again hopefully sooner rather than later!

At first I was doubtful about this place as im writing I am getting a desert. Anyway the food is great I ordered 2 ribeye steaks with a coke for me and 1 water for my ma. The service was quick helpful and kind when I ordered the drinks less than 1 minute later they were here. I just recived my desert (deep dish cookie) it is delicious. The scenery is as old looking as the place maybe 1900 not 1802 anyway in summary it's great. Will go back soon

This is a lovely, old fashioned pub. The staff are outstanding, engaging customers in conversation whether regulars or just passing through. It's a bar where the regulars will make you feel like a local readily including visitors in conversations. A great place. Many pubs claim, "arrive as a stranger, leave as a friend," but of the Dufferin Arms it is the absolute truth! Stop by for a pint of Guinness.
