George & Dragon — Restaurant in North Devon

Sunday lunch time. Absolutely awful place to eat. When we arrived the place was empty.This should of told us all we needed to know. Ordered the catch of the day but was offered battered or plain. When the battered came out it was around 2mm thick ( hunt the fish within the batter ). Our friend ordered the plain cod which came out around 10 mm thick as in fresh cod. The two other pies ordered were not cooked, the pastry was still like a mush and not cooked. When questioned about the fish I was given there was no apology, the ( chef ) using the term very loosely went to the kitchen to produce a box of fresh fish which she insisted was what was cook for me.liar. The difference was night and day. We had no apologies just very diffenceive insisted we pay the full price for farm foods frozen fish and two under cook pies sent back whole. Even the clothing worn was grubby and dirty. Please give this place a wide birth, just not worth it, bad food with attitude.

One of the best pubs ever, have 2 beautiful dogs that fell asleep on my lap, and were very well behaved. Food was cheap and absolutely beautiful. Chef was extremely friendly and kept us updated on our food and brought us some amazing home-made sauces. One little dog was so friendly, and jumped up on a chair if anyone stood up, and rested their head on my leg while eating which I didn't mind, but he would move if asked and would sit behind the bar. So sad I had to leave him! The staff were so wonderful and friendly and If I wasn't here on holiday I would be a regular. Absolutely loved it, keep it up guys ♡ Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful decorations with a loverly stone wall throughout. Couldn't have been better, highlight of my holiday, 10/10...

The only pub in combe Martin that is reasonably priced. Owners are great company and very friendly. This is a pub that welcomes dogs and they have 3 beautiful ones of there own and are well behaved. New chef has just started here and can not fault his food. The menu sounds a little dull but the result is spectacular in taste. The menu does not do him justice but his cooking skills are second to none. Really felt welcome here. Can not express this enough. So much so that I had to drink more than usual 🤣 Thank you all so much. Looking forward to returning and please say Hi to Taff for us. His mac and cheese is now...
