The Woodpecker Kitchen — Restaurant in North Devon

Popped in on Sunday evening for a meal. Was told that there would be a 30 minute wait for food as they had a big order which we did not mind. The lady at the bar without looking up from what she was doing said to sit down and someone would be over to take our order. We sat down and watched lots of staff wondering around however 10 minutes passed and no one had been over to get our order. 5 minutes later another party walked in and sat down. The lady went straight over to them to get their order so we decided that we were not going to wait anymore. Shame I can't discuss how the food or drink was but I will not be returning to find out. Wow what an absolute Jem of a find, walked in and was greeted straight away and said we could sit where we choose.. the girl came out straight away took our drink orders… was brilliant any meal they did a smaller portion of for the children for only £5.. when the food came out we was amazed on portion size and when we tasted it was just so fresh and perfect.. the bloke talked to us about the food and what they use in the ingredients… very cute little playhouse outside with some beer statues.. all the staff were so friendly and said about their goals for the outside. We can’t wait to head back to eat there again…

We eat here quite regularly as the food is delicious, always perfectly cooked with quality ingredients and the chips are incredible. Fantastic Full English breakfasts served til late morning when the menu changes to filled rolls, baguettes, burgers etc. The owners and staff are always really friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble... Good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks including cocktails and an ice cream parlour with a massive selection of flavours including my daughter's favourite 'Unicorn'.
