We visited yesterday for a Sunday Lunch, the food was amazing! The pub & atmosphere was beautiful! However, the service wasn’t great at all. We didn’t have one specific waitress, we had about 4 (& they obviously weren’t communicating with one another). We had one seat us, another to take the drinks orders, we weren’t offered any menus until another waitress came to take our order & realised we hadn’t been given any menus, which was about half an hour into being there. We then waited another 20 minutes to order. Took about half an hour until our food came, then we were missing a meal. By the time we had all eaten, the missing meal then came out. We were waiting for our plates to be cleared and hopefully get a dessert menu but we’re left sat with empty plates on our table for another 15/20minutes so we decided to get up & go to the bar for our bill instead. Within our order, we had a meat free roast dinner but was still charged the full amount of a roast. Overall, we paid £140. But you could’ve got more if your waitresses were more on their game, communicated with one another & we’re more organised.

The food was beautiful but the service really let...

Avoid the restaurant. Take recent reviews as a sign of how things have declined. What used to be a good pub has completely gone out of control.

Awful food, confrontational defensive and aggressive owners (felt like an episode of kitchen nightmares). Felt embarrassed for them but it explains the empty pub on a weekend...

Never before have I been shouted at by an owner for not eating a meal and complaining. Save your money and go anywhere else. There's too many restuarants struggling to waste your money on this mess of a business.

The wait staff were lovely is the saving grace. Just hope they can find better working conditions.

Update following owners reply:

Thanks for highlighting exactly what the review outlined. Embarrassing to be throwing around lies but it's (unfortunately) your business. Get over it, the food you served was over priced and poor quality.

The only abuse that took place was to your poor ingredients.. they deserve better.

Those considering visiting please see fuller review above, as well as an example of the owners ridiculous confrontational behaviour in the various Google reviews on here. They clearly have...

What a super little pub. We stayed in Ashover for a week and had a wonderful time. Honestly we don't really go to pubs as a rule, but the Crispin is brilliant, it has a lovely atmosphere, very welcoming, and family friendly. We didn't have any food, but did observe other people with meals and it looked great. They have a great selection of beers. But the overriding feeling we both had was just pure relaxation. The bar staff were just excellent, helpful and friendly. We have just been back 27th September for a week for another holiday and had several visits to the Crispin. The experience was just as good as last time with the exception that we had an evening meal. OMG! This food is outstanding, my wife had the home made steak and blue cheese pie, mash and peas and I had the Crispin Chilli Burger, onion rings, triple cooked chips. We both had a taste of each other's meal, absolutely fantastic. The portions are huge. Ali is a great host and has a very capable team of helpful friendly people who are customer focused. Thank you...

We had an amazing dinner at the Crispin Inn for our 12th wedding anniversary , nice quaint historic building and lovely atmosphere, staff were incredibly friendly and attentive but above all the burger I had was not only massive but the quality was amazing- the best burger I’ve ever eaten ( and I’ve eaten a few 😂) the quality of the meat was absolutely stunning, my wife had the chicken burger which was the same! thank you so much!! Can’t wait to come again!

After paying an exorbitant price for a cup of tea I was expecting something good, what I actually got was a Luke warm unstewed thimble of something resembling tea.i told the lad behind the bar it wasn't good enough and that the water wasn't even boiling to brew the tea properly.the water had come out of machine so he was happy with his response.if you can't get tea right in the hospitaly business what can you be trusted to get right.
