The warmest of welcomes awaited us when we arrived at the Old Poets Corner. This is an authentic Derbyshire pub with incredibly warm and welcoming staff who made us feel right at home. The room, while not very large, was well equipped, the bed was comfy and the complimentary beers reflecting the name of the room a great touch! We had the family who live locally join us for dinner on our first night and everyone had a great meal with fantastic service accompanied by some really good beer! The breakfast here is absolutely unreal! Full cooked breakfast, fully loaded with really good bacon and sausages! The staff remained attentive throughout our stay, providing a sausage at each breakfast for our little sausage dog! The chef made us a tray of tea on a Sunday morning when she arrived. The location is beautiful, nestled in the gorgeous village of Ashover surrounded by amazing walks. Value for money Great food Great beer Amazing staff Dog friendly Thank you for such a lovely stay, we'll definitely be back everytime we visit the family in the future and will be highly recommending you to anyone looking to stay in the area!

Been several times mainly for the Titanic ale, (Plum Porter is like nectar) and a pork pie with pickles on a £7 pie and pint combo. Has been very busy on previous visits with Sunday dinners flying out. One Sunday dinner and two beef baguettes on this visit, although we found the beef a little tough here and there, it was still enjoyable. Plenty of veg to accompany. Desserts looked amazing. Huge traditional crumbles and custard. Beer garden at the back around the car park with a magnificent view of the valley and ridge above. Inside is traditional. Old wood, flagstone floor, curiousty pictures, maps and memorabilia. A massive array of Titanic and guest ales and ciders. Friendly service and customers. Dogs more than welcome after a long walk.

A classic. Great beer range (7 hand pumps), including a couple from their own micro brewery, The Ashover Brewery. Nice country rustic feel to the large lofty rooms. Large car park. Great carvery and other meals with a blackboard of daily specials at reasonable prices, around £9. Outside seating available, but no garden. They also have a couple of holiday flats for rental. Ashover is a lovely village, off the beaten track. It has a very nice church and a network of public footpaths leading from the centre of the village. We spent a lovely day doing a circular walk in the morning, then back to the village for lunch and a delicious pint of Ashover Brewery CITRA, followed by a different circular walk in the afternoon. A very enjoyable day!

Really good quality for the price. Room was standard quality. It was matching the whole decoration and ambient of the whole building, looking antique and vintage. However, all your needs were covered with no problems. Funny note, as they are run by the Titanic Brewery, you had a hint in every room! Find out by yourselves! Management and the staff team are very kind and welcoming. They managed to accommodate all our needs. They were really nice to us and made us feel part of the community as many other locals! They were very kind to point us nice places around! As we were there over the weekend, it was really nice to see how live it becomes! One of the nights they were dancing along the music (believe it was Celtic, but I have no clue! Sorry Guys! It was fun anyway!), the second one they had live music and they were amazing, jaw dropping! and the day we left, the pub was involved in the local fair day, so it was also quiet sweet to see as a community. The pub/hotel is in a great location as it has got all the lovely villages and towns from the peak district around and you have very beautiful walks around the area. It is a small river just by the hotel car park that many dogs love! Mine, unfortunately can't swim! LOL. 100% recommended and we wish we can come...

We had food at this place today. It was our first visit. The food was lovely and we had no complaints in that department. However the staff there have a lot of room for improvement. As soon as we walked in, the bar staff ( there was about 3 of them, 2 male, 1 female) all stared at us. We continued to the bar regardless to order but we felt really intimidated by the bar staff, the woman in particular. She was staring right at us. Didnt take her eyes off us, Blatantly staring with a sour look on her face. She was very unfriendly and made us feel uncomfortable. The guy who served us wasnt particularly friendly either. There was no warm welcome from that staff team! The woman did manage to make time to flirt with one of her colleagues behind the bar though! The guy who served the meat on our carveries was nice. However the man overlooking him wasnt . He was also a starer, watching our every move. We really felt put off . I dont think people with an attitude such as these should be working anywhere with the public! The youngish woman behind the bar really needs a lesson in basic manners as does the older man (unsure of his role) who was by the carvery station.. if they were my staff id be having a...

I won a prize of a meal for 2 at the Old Poets Corner for my fund raising for this years DGR! (Distinguished Gentleman Ride). After chatting with the manager Stephen few weeks ago I booked a table for 3 for yesterday, our 25th Wedding Anniversary meal!! (3rd person being my son, he was home for a week to celebrate with us!).

What a brilliant cosy, quiet little pub!! We are not big drinkers but we do like to venture out to pubs just like this, service was great from the friendly staff. My Wife had the fish and chips, I had the steak and ale pie and my son had the Titanic burger. All the food was spot on.

A special mention has to go to the fish and chips, oh my this was one of the best we have had in a while. The Haddock was fresh and the batter was so so crispy!! We would recommend this.

We had our meal inside the pub, we moved outside for our dessert and coffee to enjoy the view of the valley.

Yes we didn’t pay for the meal, my son did pay for his meal though - at around £30/£35 per person for starter, main, dessert and drink is fully worth it.

Thanks you Stephen for the kind prize and to the welcoming staff/chef’s, our night was most enjoyable.

We...
