Dronfield Hall Barn — Restaurant in North East Derbyshire

I visited the cafe with a friend yesterday. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 toast. A bill was brought to the table and as we hadn’t been given anything I assumed the waitress had brought us someone else’s bill. Especially as it came to more than £13. She insisted it was our bill, that SHE didn’t make the prices and that we HAD to pay before we got anything because that’s “how they did it”.

Never encountered this anywhere before and it meant our supposedly pleasant Sunday meeting and coffee morning started very unpleasantly. Said waitress said she’d send over the manageress and I said “no” I really didn’t want anymore unpleasant interruptions to my meeting with my friend. But the manageress did come and interrupt my conversation with my friend and tried to make out that it was I who wanted to speak to her! I told her very clearly I DIDNT want to speak to her to which her reaction was one of offence taken!

Seriously, where do they get these people from?

Will, never go back to this awful cafe. If you want a pleasant, normal price coffee, with normal staff,...

Been coming here for a while but to be honest I won’t be coming back. Attitude of one particular member of staff awful. Ordered drinks and sat at the table was told they would bring them over. Two bottles of lemonade. Waitress brought them to table put them down turned round and walked away. Came back with two glasses. Never said a word just walked off. Fair enough I didn’t want a full blown conversation. Sat chatting to my friend she came back and said bluntly you will have to move your chair your blocking the walkway for people to get cutlery . Again no problem moving chair . Not what is said it’s how it’s said. She then proceeds to sit in the corner with her back to everyone eating whatever she was eating . Fair enough your on your break you don’t want disturbing but the whole atmosphere was strained. You hate your job I get that loads of people do. But to make your customers feel like they are just an inconvenience . Lady with long dark hair you need to polish up on your customer service skills it is...

We held our wedding and reception at Dronfield Hall Barn in 31 May 2025 and can honestly say we were not disappointed! I think I can speak for all our guests, but especially for Carlos and myself (Bride & Groom - Mr & Mrs Garcia) when I say that our day was made extra special by everybody involved at Dronfield Hall Barn. I’m so glad it was our venue of choice. All staff went above and beyond to provide everything we could possibly have wanted and the beautiful gardens made our photos look amazing. The wedding breakfast menu was amazing and the Hog Roast we had in the evening was delicious, leaving us all ready to burst by the end of the day. The staff couldn’t do enough to help and I can’t thank them enough. I would recommend this as a venue...
