It only got one star as I can't give it zero stars.

Scruffy staff, terrible food, poor service, incorrect starters and deserts, bar staff more interested in texting on their phone than serving customers and dirty cutlery. Starters were cold, greasy and undercooked. Sausages and potatoes for the mains were hugely undercooked, (it's pork for goodness sake !), and the deserts, once the correct ones had arrived were plated up with little care and stodgy.

Even though the rest of the family dislikes the Moorlands, my Mother loves the place, (probably because everyone else dislikes it), so unfortunately I have to keep going back. Service and food is always the same, awful at best, but staff and Management alike seem not to care about how bad the place is.

To give just one example, when we went to pay the deposit for the Christmas meals in late November, there was a full ashtray of cigarette buts kicked over right by the front door. One month later and the same ashtray and 50+ cigarette buts are still spread out on the floor by the front door. Management and staff must have walked past that 100 or more times, but no-one can be bothered to spend two minutes sweeping them up.

The Moorlands is the sort of place where you wipe your feet on...

I visit the storehouse pubs for dinner quite often but after visiting the Moorlands I was quite disappointed. The dinner wasn't that tasty to be honest and the meats were very chewy and had a lot of grizzle in them. I had the Gammon and the Beef. The cauliflower cheese is tasteless watered down version and nothing like the taste of cheese, and the cauliflower is always hard and undercooked. The bottomless ice cream is tasteles like in every Stonehouse pub, maybe that's why you can have as much as you like. Me personally wouldn't bother having the all you can eat ice cream at all, unless it tasted like ice cream. I would like to say I have had a Sunday calvary at other pubs where the cauliflower is cooked to perfection and the cheese sauce is tasty and stringy like proper cauliflower cheese should be, if that's what your advertising.. Also the meats I have had at other pubs has fell apart on your fork its that good and this is all for the same price as what you charge for a Sunday calvary. I am not in the habit of complaining but I think if I can get a better tasteing diner somewhere else for the same money, then perhaps you need to improve. I will visit again but if things have not improved I will not bother...

Nice venue, very welcoming. The food was ok. I had a carvery and as you’d expect a lot of the veg had been sitting there for a while and so wasn’t of the best quality, the meat was fab. Some other people from our party ordered off the menu and this food took a while to come, and one persons burger was ready to collect even though the dish was incomplete as the onion rings weren’t ready, these were brought to the table a few minutes later by the chef however I thought it wrong to serve an unfinished dish. At the end of our meal a few in our party had a lot of pizza slices left and so asked to have a take-out box to put them in. The server who brought them over said next time we would be charged take-out prices if we wanted to take home any unfinished food. We did not understand this as how are you supposed to know at the start of a meal if you’re to finish it or not? And we couldn’t understand the need to charge for a take out box. The server said he would go and get the chef to come over and discuss this matter which he never did, which again came across as unorganised and unprofessional. Overall, the food is ok, can’t really complain for the price, but the overall experience could definitely have...

I was recommended this place by a friend of mine and decided to take my partner there for a birthday meal. When I booked our meal I mentioned that my partner loves Yorkshire puddings, when we turned up they had given us a huuuge Yorkshire pudding with candles in it, sung her happy birthday and we all had a laugh. Appreciate the extra effort they put in and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food itself was great, the meats were not dry nor bland. There was a good selection of sides and sauces. We had ice cream and strawberry jam pudding to finish the experience off. The building and layout was open plan and felt welcoming. The views of the rolling hills and fields were fantastic. The only slight thing I had with The Moorlands, was the toilets could've been a bit cleaner. I've been to many carveries around Sheffield and it's definitely one of my favourites now.

I have to say we were very impressed with the refurbishments done to this place when we arrived, the whole food serving area has a new fresh feel to it. The addition of pizzas and burgers to the food menu makes it more accessible than just a carver try joint, and the quality of the new food is great. We had a Calzone pizza and a Carbonara premium pizza with extra goats cheese, both of which were served piping hot and tasted great. You also get to enjoy free salad (although this was fairly limited), and the usual carvery veg alongside your pizza which was an added bonus! We also really enjoyed the “dirty shakes”, mega milk shakes with lots of extra bits that were incredible. The place could be improve further by having a more efficient ordering process for food and drinks, and to upgrade the seating. Well worth a visit though.

A very warm welcome to The Moorlands, which has pleasant décor. After being seated we placed chose our food from the menu, and ordered at the bar where Lawrence who was serving had a lovely smile and demeanour. The food ordered was served quite quickly, and the carvery was collected at the deck. There was a great chef named Dave, who was cheery and polite. He served from a variety of meats, and then one chooses their of veg from a well supplied and variety. The tables are set out giving one adequate space around. Attentive servers came to check all was as one would expect and provided any extra sauces etc as requested. They cleared the tables when necessary. The desserts were too nice to miss out on but which one to choose? The Stonehouse is very popular and you can tell why when you visit and dine there.
