My girlfriend suggested 2 stars. We got a Bob FM voucher, ÂŁ25 online for a ÂŁ50 voucher, and went there for a Sunday roast. The food was tasty, potatoes herby and lovely jus-gravy.

But... my GF didn't like the way it was presented and I didn't like the food proportions. The plate was dominated by a giant yorkshire pud. I try to avoid gluton so I immediately removed that, which put the rest of the plate in perspective.

The usual price of this main course would have been ÂŁ17 and there wasn't all that much there. When I explained that I had hoped to get a chance to ask for no yorkshire (food was pre-ordered online) the girl serving did sort me out some extra veg pretty quickly, but I was still very hungry. If it had cost ÂŁ17 per plate I would have been very disappointed. My son's child portion was really tiny by the way.

I still had hopes for the dessert as there was a little bit left on the voucher. I ordered the three scoops of icecream: 'chocolate chunk', 'strawberies and cream' and 'blackcurrant'. It sounded good, but at ÂŁ6 per dessert I expected something better than what you get out of those big super-basic tubs of neopolitan from the supermarket, and that's seriously all it was.

The chef clearly knows how to cook a decent meal, but it's very clear that the manager of this pub is very keen to keep the cost of ingredients at an absolute extreme minimum, and it really shows. The pub does have huge potential, I hope this is taken as constructive criticism and...

First time visiting and won’t be visiting again, to start of my food came out and it was cold then my order was wrong and it was sent back to the kitchen where I could hear the chef and the server arguing over cooking me a replacement. Then the server came out and was relaying this to the man behind the bar which was very uncomfortable so I told them to cancel the replacement as it was very off putting, upon this I had two staff going over the menu to find out the menu in the kitchen is not the same as the menu on the table. This was then relayed back to me as if I had ordered incorrectly, also there was items missing from our meals which we weren’t informed about until me asked where they were to then be told the server should have told us they have ran out. Then we asked for the bill we were happy to pay for what we had eaten and drank but not for the main meals the guy behind the bar was outraged and didn’t seem to understand we didn’t come to eat here separately, he made no secret about being angry about this and if he had pushed the screen any harder it would have cracked! Customer service was shocking and the food was terrible I’ve seen they are charging £70 for a Christmas Day dinner if the staff aren’t happy to work a Tuesday night I can’t imagine they will be happy to work...

I thought I’d take my elderly mum out for dinner as she does get out much and we thought we’d try here as mum needed some Birthday cards from the garden centre almost next door. Ordered food and drinks and nice man bought dog water bowl out for my dog. Mum ordered Chicken Schnitzel with triple cooked chunky chips, rocket and lemon wedge. Service was quick but it came with the most anaemic French fries and no rocket. When I showed the waitress the menu so she could see what it should have come with ‘triple cooked chunky chips and rocket’ she just stared and said nothing. After repeating, she took the plate back and came back with what ‘looked’ like triple cooked chips and a heap of extremely wilted rocket! Sadly mum couldn’t eat the chips as they were so dry and the rocket, well you just wouldn’t put that on anyones plate! The chicken was pretty dry too, I think mum had about 3 bites. I had triple roast. It wasn’t hot, just warm. The meats were tender. The tender stem broccoli was very stringy and inedible. Other veg was ok. Roast potatoes were not crispy, just all soft. Yorkshire was ok although a bit dry. Mashed potato didn’t taste like fresh mash, very ‘pastey’ in texture. Unfortunately this put us off ordering a dessert and won’t visit...

I decided to take my family out for my birthday as a treat and we decided to choose the three horseshoes in Norton, Hertfordshire. I booked a 12 noon table for four people as I thought if we were having roast lunches early in service they should be freshly cooked. I was very wrong about that sadly to say. The roast beef was cut wrongly along the grain and was grey and over cooked making it very dry. The roast potatoes had been reheated from the day before and were not fresh, because they were dry and hollow inside. The roast parsnips were also reheated from the day before and they were dry and inedible. The Yorkshire pudding was also dry. The carrots were reheated and shrivelled. The broccoli wasn’t any better. The gravy was very salty and very dark and also unpalatable. On the whole, the meal was very, very disappointing. We will not be going back again … Do ZOOM IN TO PHOTO please!!! 2/10 Disappointing very sorry.

Well working away for a few days and stopping at services with kfc and McDonald’s which is not great. I found this pub and what a find. As soon as I walked in I felt at home. The staff seem very friendly and was ready to take drinks order immediately. Found a table and started to look around at a really nice looking pub very classy but being from the Midlands I didn’t feel out of place. Great selection of beers and the food was to die for pâté to start and a 8 oz rump which was cooked to perfection mushrooms tomatoes and onion rings. Really enjoyed myself here and I think I will come back as soon as I can, maybe bring my wife as food was exceptional. I would give 10 stars if possible. Thank you.

A very large, traditional pub, not to be confused with its smaller neighbour with the same name in Willian. Really nicely appointed in dark wood, with log fires and lots of different seating areas. The restrooms were spotlessly clean too, which is sadly a rarity these days. Would have preferred more choices of real ales (only Doombar and Harvey’s were on offer on a Sunday lunchtime). Staff were really friendly and so was the pub cat, Reggie! Didn’t try the food as we’d had a big breakfast elsewhere, but would definitely have lunch next time.
