Had a meal here this evening and although the food was nice and the waiter we had was nice who brought out the food.
The lady with the blonde and short hair, behind the bar however, who I'm guessing who is the manager, is rude and just from being there for 2 hours seemed to be even ruder and possibly even a bully to those under her supervision. (Funnily enough seems to be the only person without a name tag)
We originally where only going to have drinks but decided to stay for food. While having drinks, the staff where slateing a customer who had just left, very loudly! When we moved to have food, my partner ordered at the bar, he came back to the table to tell me that the manager had been rudely talking to and about a member of staff in front of him while ordering.
Then while sat near the entrance waiting for food we watched 3 groups of people waiting at the wait to be seated sign for 5-10 minutes each before they where even acknowledged. When one lady asked if they where going to be seen the manager shouted across the room with a rude tone saying yer I will be there in a minute when I'm done.
At 8pm she was turning people away putting them off with the 40 minute wait telling them each time they said that's ok, she came back with another negative reason trying to put them off sitting down.
I most definitely won't be returning and I dare say the 3 groups of people won't be either the attitude of the manager stinks and most definatley not what should be the front of house.
The male waiter who dealt with us was very friendly and accommodating and the food was good.
I think that some staff training and staff performance reviews would be with looking into if your wanting this place to exceed the perfect pub set up as it is lovely inside and has the potential to do well.
I never leave negative reviews but was so shocked by the customer service of some...
Read moreVisited for a meal with friends on a Thursday evening. The night started with being asked for our drinks order, we asked for a Malbec, none in stock, so asked for a different red, none in stock… opted for a safe option of Coke Zero in the end to save the hassle. Another coke was ordered and she asked for a straw, no straw - not too much of a problem. It then came to ordering the food. We were all given 2x menus each, a specials and normal. After discussing our choice, we realised that some of the items we were discussing weren’t actually on everyone’s menu. It turns out we had all been given a different specials menu, to which we then had to get the staff to ask the kitchen and identify which specials menu it actually was for the evening. 2x of us ordered the pork belly from the specials board. Then an order of a steak and mixed grill. The food arrived, the steak sauce was put on the wrong plate, nobody realised until we asked where the sauce was and the kitchen said they put it on the wrong plate. Moving onto the pork belly… worst meal we’ve ever had. It was with a caramel and rum jus, which came in a gravy boat in a large quantity. We of course poured a little over our meal and quickly noticed how incredibly sweet it was, even sweeter than a dessert. Imagine gravy with a bag of sugar added, poured onto a gravy dinner. It was beyond inedible. It was like ordering a main and dessert in one. I personally have a sweet tooth but after that meal I don’t think I actually have any teeth left. The other 2 meals were average. Will never return due to the food. Also overheard several other complaints from surrounding tables. When we mentioned the pork belly, we were told the staff hadn’t actually tried this meal as it was brand new on...
Read moreIt’s a building full of history and it’s nice for the pub to recognise this, with plenty of signage and comments on the menu to raise awareness of the past the place had. The interior is really well decorated although the high ceilings can make it a little chilly, especially during less busy times. The staff are all really friendly straight from arrival and we were made to feel welcome immediately. The dining area is much bigger than it initially looks but there’s a good area available should you only be wanting drinks. The car park is very large with the whole place accessible.
The menu has a good range and is as you’d expect if you’re familiar with the chain. There’s a nice blackboard on the wall showing the daily offers available and some of these offer some great value! Our order was taken professionally and the food itself arrived in good time. The calamari starter came with three large rings and they were cooked well with a good sized dip and some rocket. The sirloin steak was cooked correctly to the order but some veg would have been nice, with it instead coming with only half a tomato. For the price though it was a good portion size in general.
The toilets were clean as was the whole restaurant in general and overall it was a great early evening meal. It was good value, especially if you can take advantage of the deals available, and it’s a really relaxing...
