Popped in after a trip to the beach and some chips. Went straight to the garden out the back (handily, directions are painted on the floor in the alleyway). There is a ground level covered beer garden on the car park, but head up a few steps and there is a sprawling beer garden with tables, a covered area, archways and room for the children to run around....and a real effort has been made to make it a nice relaxing area.
However, the same can't be said of the inside of the pub unfortunately. Entering from the rear felt like I had stepped into a labyrinth, passing by the snug and some very basic toilets (the gents had nice wall tiles though), indeed my wife almost ended up behind the bar and left via the staff door.
An extra point goes to the barman who took the time to pour a shamrock on the top of my son's Guinness! There was a wide array of drinks to choose from including...
Read moreWe loved the fishing boat, it was certainly worth the 1.5 mile walk from our campsite, so good we visited twice in two days, we didn't eat this time, however the food looked good, the IPA was what I wanted and I was impressed with the choice on offer, the beer was my reason to bypass the pub closer to our campsite and to stroll along the beach to the splendid fishing boat . Moreover we both were more than happy to walk the extra to fulfil our needs , the beer garden is a gem of nooks and crannies plenty of options to get tucked away and enjoy every on offer. This is how they should treat customers if they want them to return. Other pubs should take note. When I was a teenager some 40 years ago, I seem to remember the Landlady was a nice looking French woman married to an Englishman., Is that the current Landlady, or am I getting this mixed up with the other Pub at East Runton.
