SUMMARY Good visit with friendly staff and a local vibe about it. The food is takes and average of around 25-40 minutes from order to table. The food is of a good quality and is often served hot. However the alcoholic beverages, specifically the house cocktails are in need of improvement.
FOOD Having ordered a variety of meals from the restaurant, the party I was visiting had mixed reviews however none were to the point of negativity. The steaks, presented on a sizzling hot plate, were cooked very well and exactly to order. However the sides offered with the steak (in this case macaroni cheese) had a slight processed texture and taste about it. The macaroni cheese and chips also suffered from appearing to be over salted and leaving a dry mouth. The barbebcue sauce in which the steak was marinated in was present however not overpowering and worked well with the onions and other garnishes. I personally ordered the chicken salad served in a tortilla wrap. The chicken was succulent and had a nice french dressing to compliment it. The salad consisted of lettuce leaves and cucumber chunks. The wrap was served slightly warm and was a nice light bite. The children's meals were ok however in this case the pizza was of a cheaper brand and was a microwave meal. There's not much to say about the children's food.
DRINKS (inc. Alcohol beverages) The soft drinks were served from the pump and were OK however I recommend that you don't take ice as it melts causing the glass to become slippy as no drinks mats are at the tables. The house cocktails, as mentioned earlier, we're quite poor. Having ordered a pitcher of "The Godfather", the title is more exciting than the drink, was served way below the pitcher size leaving it almost a quarter empty. The drink which is served with a mammoth of ice becomes a diluted mess in a short amount of time.
SCENE & INTERIOR Located approximately 2 minutes from Whitley Bay town centre, Fox Hunters is a nice restaurant and bar located in the outskirts. The location is prime for those leaving the business of Whitley Bay but looking for a quick drink or bite to eat. The interior features pictures and art often of microphotography.
OVERALL I would recommend a visit to this bar and restaurant. The only issues presented were of a minimal discomfort and didn't distract from a lovely meal. We will be visiting again.

Read moreToday, me and my friends had decided to go out for some tea and we had seen at Foxhunters there was a burger deal and where we lived there’s hardly any buses and no food places near by.So we planned to travel down to foxhunters for a meal as there was good reviews.WRONG as soon as we entered the premises we got given death glares by young members of staff,we didn’t think much of it as that just might be how they look. WRONG as soon as we were about to tell them we had a booking they ask for ID, me and my friends were confused at this point because we hadn’t ordered anything yet and I replied with “no”.She then replied with in a rude tone, you need to leave as we can tell you guys are under 18.No questions asked we had left.I rang my dad to see if he could come and he said yes thank god otherwise we would’ve traveled down here for no reason. We then sat down still receiving glares at this point but we ordered food and then my dad gets a important phone call saying my brothers been rushed to hospital from football so he had to go which is reasonable.Within second the member of staff comes back over saying where is your guardian gone and I replied with “he will be back in 5 minutes” because at this point I didn’t know my brother was going to hospital.5 minutes pass the member of staff come back over and goes where is your guardian as you’s are going to have to leave and I had explained the situation but she didn’t care in the slightest and replied with your dad should know he can’t leave you’s by yourself even though we are 16 year old girls who are mature and we’re being respectful and quiet trying to enjoy a day out.I asked for a refund and got told no so she boxed our food and dropped it on the table and escorted us out the door.We were then stuck stranded in Whitley bay and had to eat our food in a bus stop while we waited 87 minutes for a bus. Honestly a joke...
Read moreThis place used to have lovely food, lots of staff and a warm atmosphere. The service that my family and I received 2 weeks ago was awful as a whole. Nearly every meal that came out to our table of 8 people, was either cold, over baked, over/ undercooked or wrong. Chicken wings as a starter came cold, not even warm. My poor grandad ordered a pie and it came out absolutely solid to the point where he felt embarrassed that he couldn't even get a knife into it. Even when this came back from the kitchen for the second time after complaining, it was still too hard for him to cut into so I had to rip it open with some force for him to eat something. We spent around 160 on food his evening, absolute disgrace considering we ate around 20% of the food we were served. Everything looked and smelt old as if it had been sitting under a light for a good while and then reheated or just sent as is. I've worked in a green king pub and this place has just went so downhill for food, it's a shame. It's almost as if the chef wasn't there and they had a glass washer running the kitchen. I've been coming here since I was young, loved the place and the previous owner, but my family and I were so disappointed in this visit that we may not come here any more. Please get some more training in the kitchen and at least get the food out within a minute or 2 of each other.. it's not that difficult to get the basics of a restaurant...
