This pub serves excellent food. Outside is good regarding seating and special place for kids to sit, BUT went on tuesday 25th july for birthday meal at lunchtime, with my dog who has been before, admittedly when weve dined outside when weather was good, went inside place was totally empty , asked if we could bring dog in as we saw there were tables near entrance where there was no carpet on floor for dogs to spoil, and told rather abruptly ( no dogs allowed as we serve food) lots of pubs sell food and allow dogs, and told we could sit outside, what in rain, thanx but no thanx so we left, we wont be back, other pubs have supplied our dog with water and treats , so his loss, but by his attitude dont think he'll be overly bothered, but have spread the word to other people who have dogs and enjoy going to pubs with them

I did not go for the food and did not have any while I was there, so cannot comment. I was there following the fabulous Giroscope who once again delivered a fabulous performance. Very friendly atmosphere and great service from the staff made this a thoughley enjoyable night, I would recommend to anyone.

Ordered a Sunday lunch for the first time from here and it was very nice. Was delivered well before estimated time (20 mins and it was at my door). I couldn't eat it all and there was plenty of meat. Well worth it.

Often has live music and when it does it gets very busy otherwise its your standard decent pub. Very cosy in the winter and come summer there's plenty of outdoor seating areas and of course the obligatory smoking sheds. There's a fair range of beers at the pump and the more exotic bottled lagers and ciders kept in under counter fridges. Darts and pool players are catered for and there's plenty of screens for the big sporting events. Handy parking outside and there's two ways into the entrance one way you'll pass the old Gas board the other way you'll come upon the railway barriers and if they're down you could be there awhile!. All in all a pub that has everything you'll need including a menu of classic British fayre so no reason to go else...

Poor I’ve never, ever left a less than five star review. That said, I’ve never, ever experienced such atrocious customer service. Whatever happened to keeping your customer’s informed? We were Initially told 30-45 minute wait for Sunday lunch;fine. However,1.5 hours later (when daring to approach the bar) we discovered beyond unapproachable staff, awfully defensive and, actually, quite rude. Felt dismissed to say the least.Shame as we were really looking forward to our lunch today-having heard nothing but great feedback and, having really enjoyed drinks last week. Looking forward to reading a (slightly less facetious) response than the one(s) we were...
