We had a lovely meal at the Dog and Doublet on a Sunday afternoon. Would definitely recommend booking as it is popular. Lovely location by the canal. It isn't table service but that doesn't bother us, it doesn't really take any effort to walk to the bar to order food and drinks. Great selection of drinks on offer and the food was lovely. In my photos you can see breaded garlic mushrooms starter, mozzarella sticks starter, some sort of king prawn starter my mother in law had, the spicy chicken burger and the steak and ale pie. I had the lasagne. The people I was with also had desserts. All the food was delicious and seemed to be cooked fresh. The side salads were beautiful too. They are very dog friendly here, from what I can tell there are no out of bounds areas for dogs. They made our dog very welcome. We ate inside and then enjoyed drinks outside by the canal afterwards on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon 😊☀️ bliss!

We've eaten here 3 times now whilst staying at the kingsbury waterpark camping and Caravanning Club Site and I have to say the food was brilliant every time. First I tried the steak and ale pie, which came with chips and vegetables and separate gravy fabulous. Second time the burger with cheese and bacon salad garnish and chips again tasty well presented and good portion. Last night we went for the Chinese option. With a real Chinese chef not just frozen ready made stuff. My husband had the maylasian lamb curry, very tasty, spicy but not too hot, our friends had the chicken curry which looked yummy and the crispy chilli chicken which again looked very tasty. I had the chicken stir fry freshly cooked and very tasty full of chicken and vegetables. It's only a small place so book a table and check the opening times but it's a little gem. Fabulous 👌

Likes to hype its canalside location which is indeed very pretty.||Website states unequivocally that food is served until 8pm Friday to Sundays.||We were on holiday in a canal boat. They do 4mph flat out so once you choose a pub to aim for, after mid afternoon, you are pretty well committed. ||We arrived at 7.20pm and all the staff were very surprised that we wanted food since apparently the Landlord always stops serving food at 6pm on Sundays.||Obviously 'Landlord' was 'upstairs' and unavailable.||My plea that we had relied on their website and now had no way to eat since we could not get to the next or last pub in time was met with verbal shrugs. Lots of apologies but nothing which was helpful.||The entirety of the response was that the staff would tell the Landlord, the Internet is not something the staff use and the Landlord uses a website company so it's all somebody else's fault.||I fully accept the staff aren't to blame. The Landlord is entirely responsible.||Maybe they could have offered us some sandwiches or anything they could rustle up with little effort but alas we were repeatedly told 'sorry but it's the Landlord'.||I've no idea what the food is like, but the service is appalling.||In the end we managed to get a pizza delivered to the...
