I'll start with the good - the Roarsome trail was fun, and the children enjoyed it. Even the older ones found it more enjoyable when they were given the question sheets.
But unfortunately, that was really the end of the positive experiences.
The website advises that the trail is uneven etc and may be unsuitable for pushchairs. I appreciate that they are covering themselves, but the path is covered by cellular mats. Whilst it is still uneven, a pushchair was taken round without much difficulty. The reason this is in the negatives is because a disabled member of our group didn't join us on the day because we worried we wouldn't have been able to take them on the trail. Not ideal!
As all child focused activities, there is a gift shop at the end.
Now to the rest of the Heart of England Centre! There was nowhere to buy a drink unless you sat at a table in the restaurant. We were a larger party with 6 children, and as the weather was nice, we didn't want to sit for a Sunday roast.
There were signs everywhere advertising the cafe for drinks and snacks, but none were open. And when asked "they don't open in the holidays"!!! I genuinely couldn't believe it.
Our visit was over the August Bank Holiday (Sunday). The weather was lovely, there were people camping and visiting, yet they do not open the cafes. Surely this is their prime profit making season???? The staff didn't seem to understand that with a larger party, including a bunch of excited cousins, the option of sitting at a table for drinks wasn't a good option.
I went to the next village (which thanks to road closures and detours took over 45 minutes) for drinks and snacks.
Even when we asked about ice creams and lollies which were on the back of the menu, we were told the same. FOR A ROCKET LOLLY??
The pedalos were fun, but we were stood around for a while until a lady came up and asked if we needed help - it was clear we did! She had been too busy chatting and smoking to notice us and we actually thought she was a customer at the beginning.
Unfortunately, the best part of the day was the company. I don't think we will be coming back...
Read moreThe Marquee flooring was inadequate for the downpour of rain, the carpet that was laid in the foyer was soaking wet, creating small puddles as you walked on it. There were no wet floor or slip hazard signs to warn guests as they walked in. The venue had put on a very large heater which was giving off a burning smell. This was followed by the damp smell in the main hall where the wedding was taking place. There was a lack of ventilation in the venue which was creating a very hot environment for the amount of people in one space. The points above were in breach of the health and safety of guests and The Heart of England should look to address these items with a matter of urgency.
Furthermore, staff on the day were not helpful and patronising at times for example when we asked for a glass of milk for a 1 year old baby. Firstly, a patronising conversation was had regarding which type of milk we were requesting, followed by the staff member coming back to confirm that all the milk in the venue had been used in the tea. We had to leave the wedding and purchase our own milk and then plead with staff to warm it up in the kitchen - I find this ridiculous and unhelpful for such a large and established venue. Secondly, there were no high chairs on tables with infants and we were met with awkward asks of if we had booked high chairs. At this point I was questioning myself if I was hearing correctly.
Overall we didn’t have a good experience at The Heart of England and hope that the points we have raised are seriously looked into as I would not recommend anyone to have an event...
Read moreA Disappointing Archery Experience
Got to our slot on time, although a signboard on the turf would have made it easier. The sign on the building was very small, that we drove past half a mile and noticed on return.
Signed paperwork at Reception. Hardly any atmosphere or welcome. Then was directed down to another building.
The Archery event was set up amongst woodland. Pictures on the website were deceiving, impressions were it would take place in an open field. With temperatures of 20C and clear skies, it was disappointing.
It took 20 mins for 5 of us to be shown the techniques of archery (not the first time taking part in the activity). This left us 40 mins of competition.
We played 2 games, with 5 mins left and the host decided we should become left handed.
The host was friendly and supportive. I would have expected another 2 games and some discretion to be given (Another 10 mins) when the actual competition started between us as we lost time being shown how to remove the arrows from the board.
There was only one board we were all using. Multiple Boards would have meant more games and value for money.
Unfortunately, as we walked back to parking, we were disappointed and came out with reviews such as "It hadn't even started and it ended".
At £26 a person, it is poor value and expensive. A mesmerising website, however, not a mesmerising experience on the day - A let down.
Improvements: 80 mins of Play @ £26. Take into consideration,...
