Gave it a go,but won't be back. Arrived 615, not busy about 6 tables with diners.already eating. Placed order for olives/bread and Garlic mushrooms and mains. Server ( very nice) came back Apologies neither available. Changed to brushetta ,just for one. We sat in the bar area, but quite a way from the bar stools. 3 extremely loud people were there. I like bar atmospheres but these were ridiculous. Several diners were turning round, obviously same opinion. We asked to move, no problem but was glad we could. They carried on the same, still loud but bearable from further away. My starter arrived, and surprisingly so did garlic mushrooms, she had been misinformed she said! Starters were fine very tasty. However: someone we took to be the manager ( when we arrived he was looking through obviously accounts at the table by us) and 5 others was served first with mains, having ordered after us. The only other diners by now were obviously related to them, looked similar and were chatting across the room. One was in full plaster and paint spattered work clothes.
Our food eventually arrived. My chicken salad was a bowl full of iceberg lettuce, sprinkled with a few thin slices of onion, pepper and 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half, some cucumber and chunks of flabby tasteless chicken. The garlic bread I ordered as a side was dripping with grease, and not crispy. 9.95 and 3.00 respectively. Husbands burger served on a slate, usually OK but it was so narrow that food fell off it! The tiniest EVER pot of coleslaw, literally egg cup size. It was not pleasant. The best thing was the server, who was very nice. I tipped her in cash as didn't agree with...

Visited this pub today 28th July and was very disappointed. First thing I did was use the toilet — one had mess smeared up the back of it, the other had no toilet paper and no hand wash. Not a great start.
We then went out to the garden, thinking it overlooked the canal It doesn’t unless you walk out through the gate .
We decided to sit at a table inside , and although a lady at the bar saw us, she didn’t say anything. Not even a minute later, a man came over and told us, in a very aggressive and unfriendly tone, that “we are not the kind of pub where you just sit down” and said your ment to wait to be seated yet the song was tucked into the corner and not visible as you directly in and claimed the tables we were sitting at were reserved — despite no signs or notices on the table saying so.
The way he approached and spoke to us was completely uncalled for and completely lacked basic manners . It felt hostile and uncomfortable, especially considering we were there to enjoy a meal .
Overall, a really unpleasant experience we decided to leave with out ordering the restaurant seemed unhygienic too . Prior to the rude staff member seeing the outside function room we was even thinking about booking our baby shower here but after this experience absolutely not Won’t be returning, and definitely wouldn’t recommend based on how we...
Read moreWe We visited here three years ago and had moored nearby, so we decided to give it another try. Since our last visit, it looks like the place has had a good tidy-up.
It was a very warm day, so we initially sat outside. My husband went in to get some drinks and a menu, but we were told that only burgers and fries could be eaten outside—the full menu was only available indoors. So, we headed upstairs instead. On a positive note, it’s dog-friendly, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, there were no cold dishes available. I chose the prawn cocktail, and my husband went for the liver and onions, asking to swap the mash for chips.
The food took a while to arrive, which we didn’t mind as it usually means it’s being cooked fresh. However, when the prawn cocktail came out, it was disappointing—just a few prawns in a Marie Rose sauce, surrounded by a lot of sliced cucumber and dry lettuce. It really lacked flavour.
My husband’s meal arrived with mash instead of the chips he’d requested. When he mentioned this to the waitress, she checked and confirmed she had put it through with chips. She went back to the kitchen and returned to say the options were to eat it with mash, wait for the whole dish to be cooked again, or have a side of chips. Not ideal, especially as the mash had already soaked up the gravy. Unfortunately we...
