My wife and I took my mother for Sunday lunch today 4/5/25. It soon became apparent that deep cost cutting changes had been put into practice. We ordered the victory mushrooms to start, they arrived, promptly. However, no bread roll was offered as once was the norm. Upon observation of the dish the sauce had changed its appearance, from a delicious creamy garlic sauce to a clearer liquid with a 2mm thick layer of moulted butter or oil floating on the top. The main course arrived, not much veg to support 3 meals was delivered. More suitable for child portions. The roast potato's were also few and far between prompting us to order a side portion to add to the delivered offering. The food quality was average, however, it was clear the food portion sizes have clearly been reduced. The blond lady waitress with long hair was very good, excellent actually, she was very professional in all her duties and conducted herself in an approachable pleasant manner. Overall the experience was very disappointing due to the quality and food portion size degradation. This establishment used to be a busy vibrant place with a great atmosphere, good quality food and generous portion size. Little wonder the overall experience today was dull and uneventful due to the implented changes. We will be visiting the Anchor or other near by establishments in future before reconsidering a return visit to the blue boar. I fairness, the manager replied to my comment saying a slice of garlic bread was served with the mushrooms which was true. He also states bread rolls were not served as the menu meal combinations had changed. However ??. George goes on to state that he brought the extra portion of roast potatoes out promptly, which he did. I paid for the extra portion needed to bolster the meals. I will reiterate the service was excellent, as per my previous comments and star rating. However, the food portion sizes were small. Thank you for your...
Read moreWe book 2 rooms on a friday night for 1night. a double room and a room with king sized bed and a single bed. The Double room was small with shower, dated but very clean. Had towels tiny t.v small table and 2 chairs ok for one night. It said had a balcony which turned out to be a small door/window which went onto a tiny flat roof. No use at all.
The family room had king sized bed with single bed. Advertise with towels and soundproofing. The room it's self was huge, again dated but very clean. There was only one hand towel and a bath math in the bathroom and one plastic beaker in the bathroom. (The double room had lots of towels and 2 plastic beakers in bathroom). Had a table and 2 chairs. My daughter went to sit on a chair in the room and the legs started to go backwards. Which I reported to the cleaner in the morning and was told she had reported it before! We ate at the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Friendly staff.
OUR PROBLEMS BEGAIN WHEN WE WENT TO OUR ROOM TO SLEEP. We went to ours rooms around 8pm. Well extremely loud music from the bar below started. In room 6 the floor was vibrating you couldn't here the tv. Room 3 was also extremely loud couldn't hear the tv. The music continued till 11pm. Then we had singing and loud chatter till 12.05am. So we were kept awake all evening. Rooms were Advertised as sound proofing. Complete joke. So much for a relaxing evening! At no point were we told loud music would be blaring all evening. If we had known we wouldn't have stayed there. Very...
Read moreWow! The worst place I have ever visited!||My family and I came here for Christmas dinner and it was vile. When we first arrived we were ignored by a number of waitresses. When someone finally acknowledged us she shouted that she was “too busy” bear in mind we were spending around £60 per person for this dinner. ||We finally got seated and ordered drinks, this is when the waitress shoved her nose in the glass to figure out which drink she was carrying!||We received the menu which was stained and dirty to find there were no vegetarian options for my brother and I. We were told we would have to choose between a mushroom lasagne and a halloumi burger… for Christmas dinner!!!||No words will explain the state of the food. The halloumi burger was a giant slab of cheese in between a stale bread role, the coleslaw had crusted on top and when held upside down stuck in the pot. ||The table was so sticky I could barely pick up my cutlery. The roast beef was drier than Gandhi’s flip flop, awful food, awful service, awful place. ||See photo of my Christmas...
