Vegetarian rating: 3||We picked this pub for convenience as it is near where family members live. It advertises itself as 'dog friendly', but 'dog tolerant' would be more accurate. We were not allowed to sit in the main restaurant area with our (well-behaved, small) dog but were relegated to the less nice bar area. This might have been okay for some people, but most of the tables were very high, with bar stools rather than normal chairs - our group included 2 people in their 80s, and this kind of chair was out of the question for them. We had to ask to have a normal table, but the only table available would normally only fit 2 people so we were squashed around it and there wasn't enough space for the plates, the food and the glasses.||The actual food was good, with a few vegetarian options, and the quantities were fine. We just wish that the tables in this bar area were suitable for larger groups, and were accessible to people with less mobility. Either that, or they should be truly dog friendly and allow pooches in the...
Read moreThis is a nice Pub and restaurant with good beer garden and I will no doubt continue to use it. However I was disconcerted, by the phone attitude I have just received. I wanted to know the bank holiday opening hours. The pub was clearly noisy. I asked about the opening hours and was very quickly given a brusk reply that “I can’t hear you” and the phone was put down. I had not expected such rudeness from a normally friendly pub. Why have a phone if it’s hard to hear and you do not have the courtesy to persevere despite difficulties? Thank you to The Blue Lion for replying. I’m not sure they have replied about my call, or someone else’s. At no point did I put done the phone in frustration, although as I was not getting any response, I probably put down the phone to try ringing back again. At no point was I rude. I did try phoning back a third time but my call wasn’t answered. I felt email might not give a fast enough reply. I’m glad The Lion had a good weekend, wwe have lost too many local Pubs of late. Well...
Read moreVery Happy with our experience at the blue lion, was able to get a table on fairly short notice, the food was great and really well priced, it's was good quality gastro food which was just what we were after with two fussy eaters to cater for, the decor is beautiful and in the quiet surrounding of the village its a great place to go that's not too far from Nuneaton, there's also a playing field and park across the road for the kids to work off any energy afterwards too so would recommend for families and even if you want to just have a nice meal, there's steak nights with Frank Parker meat (believe all meat is sourced from this butcher which is great), I had a gammon steak with fried egg and fries and my wife had a piri piri chicken burger with fries whilst our kids shared a roast chicken breast kids meal followed by a hot chocolate brownie for desert, will be back again soon,...
