We have been to Gelsmoor quite a few times over the last year.
The first time we came here the food was amazing and we just loved it.
We started having the steak on a hot stone which again was lovely. It always came with lovely chips in a little bucket or container and with garlic butters. Really enjoyed it the last couple of times.
We went for my husband's Birthday. It was a busy Friday. And I ordered the fillet steak and my husband had the steak pie.
We also had the bread and olives to start.
The starter was beautiful and the lady that brought them was absolutely lovely.
The gentleman that served us was lovely too.
But I have to say I won't be ordering the steak again. The steak itself was beautiful as usual but the fries were awful just plonked on the side plate. And were over cooked and a bit burnt, they seems like they were just out of a bag. Also I had to ask for butter.
It was very awkward to eat as no space to put your steak when cooked. I was disappointed.
My husband's pie was beautiful but again could have come with more vegetables when it cost 15.00. The last time he has the pie it came with peas and lots of them.
Also I think the steak should come with peas or a salad as it's so expensive for just steak and chips with a sauce.
I will be visiting again and it is just constructive criticism.
We will only come for a meal on the early bird menu from now on as it is very good value for money and the chilli I had last time was beautiful, along with the pizza. But we won't be coming in the evening any longer.
I don't normally leave reviews. But yesterday I left there paying quite a bit of money and feeling...
Read moreWhat an absolutely 'Scrumptious Meal' of the highest standard...😋 Aperitifs of a Grapefruit & Pink Gin with Tonic for my partner 🍸...whilst I enjoyed a pint of Bass beer...🍺 A small bowl of Mixed Olives was also ordered and duly consumed before we chose our main meal. We both ordered the Fillet Steak to be cooked on a 'Hot Stone' with additional spice, salt & pepper to add during the cooking process, served with fries, tomato, mushrooms with onions...🥩🍟 and I added a Peppercorn Sauce with mine. It was so easy to cook this piece of steak with a very sharp knife available to cut each slice to cook. A disposable bib was provided along with a large cloth napkin to avoid any spillage or spitting of fat from the meat cooking on the hot stone. After the main course, we both ordered desserts of a Dubai Chocolate Chouxnut with pistachio cream for me, and my partner had a Belgium Waffle with salted Caramel Ice Cream, Maple Syrup & Cinder Toffee. After Meal drinks of a Floater Coffee with Brandy for me and a Cosmopolitan for my partner to finish off a truly wonderful evening and absolutely delicious food and drinks...😋👌 The service from entering the premises to ordering the food and throughout the evening was excellent, professional, but very friendly and courteous, and at no point did we ever feel rushed at all. Overall I would score the whole experience 10/10, and will happily...
Read moreVery popular place, interior opened up giving more space but cannot describe the Gilmore Inn as a quieter establishment due to more tables and what appears to every table making themselves heard above other diners this always an issue with popularity . Car parking at weekends not quite adequate even though there were vacant tables before 19.30! Service very good apart from bottle of wine just put on the table with 2 wine glasses no offer of tasting or the firsr glass of wine poured out. Food was good but no finesse, 1/2 pound of peas on the plate lovely if your a pea lover. Rest of the plate in proportion. Although there are just a small choice of specials on offer the actual menu does not seemed to have change since our last visit, which makes the menu unfortunately a little run off the mill. Younger customers appear to be visiting here more than before, perhaps the main reason for not progressing a more diverse menu. If you want a party atmosphere at weekends the Gelsmore Inn is...
