The visit was for Mother’s Day for breakfast. A little surprise trip out for my mum and what turned out to be the most awful meal and experience we have ever had. The staff were unprofessional and didn’t seem to look like they even wanted to be there. When arriving and saying we had a booking, we were greated by a lady pointing at a table in the distance and shouting booth 1 at us. After sitting down and having a look at what we wanted no one appeared or even told us that it wasn’t table service and you had to go to the bar. I ordered paid and still didn’t even get told that I then have to go and sort my own breakfast and drinks out? When eating, the food was fatty, grisserly and was luke warm. My mum then discovered a piece of plastic in her sausage so called the woman over to quietly complain who was shouting about how she couldn’t be bothered to answer the phone. She took the plate off of my mum, said “oh yes” and “go queue back up for another plate”. No apology no nothing. After this we decided to leave. On leaving the same women( manager I presume) didn’t even say bye/thank you/ have a nice day instead shouted “have you finished in booth 1, can we have it back” again, still no sorry about the plastic!?! The service was awful and being a young girl who works in a restaurant myself, I was utterly shocked at how appalling it was. After visiting for years for carveries when I was younger with family, we all commenting on how awful shocking the...
Read moreWe dropped in on a Monday night, having been there a few times before for a carvery, thinking its a good bet for excellent food. How wrong we were. The carvery that night was done so we had a choice of pizzas or burgers. A 2 for the price of one, Monday special, get the cheapest one free. I asked for a naked burger, basically everything except the bun. My partner a Southern chicken style burger. My partners fillet was rock hard and dark brown from being in the heating oven too long. Mine arrived as two patties bropped on a plate, no garnish or salad, no sauce, and a scattered handful of fries. Needles to say i called the waiter over, sent back the chicken and asked for a side salad. When returning the food the manager told the chef about the food being sent back. Unfortunately for her, her remarks were in earshot and we heard the inconvenience we caused. The food was inedible. The lettece, cucumber and tomatoes were fresh and perfect and so was the fries.this is the second visit where the burger was a disappointment. Although I highly recommend the Carvery. Not sure you'll see our patronage again after the second chicken burger left equally, much to be desired. In future, do better, especially with staff on the floor dissing a customers request for quality of...
Read morePopped in for Sunday lunch, it was busy. We got a table but felt a little cramped, it was like a walk through bit of the pub, so it wasn’t that nice. It was by a pillar, but still felt in the way.
The staff told me the carvery was about to run out, so I went straight there. The queue was up the stairs, blocking others from walking up properly and parents with their toddlers squeezing past, just wasn’t super as an experience. Then you get off the stairs to only block the entry and exit of the kitchen as you queue for the carvery- some dafty thinks this works and it does not.
Turns out there was plenty of carvery except for the roast potatoes; I took the last ones except for one (to be polite).
The carvery was nice, decent quality and size and well priced.
My partner had the veggie burger which he enjoyed, few onions rings too.
I noticed after getting some drinks there was food on the floor and around the tables, which isn’t great. But the staff were busy.
I reckon this pub needs a shake up, put two pans of roasties on the go, put a queue system at the carvery so you aren’t blocking the stairs and generally check the floor for...
