The Lake Side Cafe — Restaurant in North West Leicestershire

This review concerns my experience of the service alone over the last few weeks as I haven’t actually managed to get any food from them. As such, the ratings for food and atmosphere are based on the last time I visited.

I am on crutches at the moment, and am finding it very difficult to cook safely. As I’m in Hemington, I thought I would set up a daily delivery with Lakeside Cafe for a month or so. Strangely, they don’t have a menu online and flatly refused to share it when I phoned up. I decided not to bother because I don’t know what options they have so how would I know what to order? I sent them a follow up text after the call, asking them to reconsider the menu situation - they’ve still not replied to this day.

My Dad gave me a lift yesterday and I asked him to nip in when we passed the café. They refused to serve him, saying that last orders are at 1.30pm. For the record, we arrived at 1.40pm and the place is advertised at closing at 2.00pm, with no mention of last orders. It was only a takeaway sandwich too - I might’ve understood if we were asking for a sit down meal!

All round, just a really unpleasant experience and not one I’m interested in repeating. I understand that they’re mostly there for the fisherman but their social media implies that they want to expand. Apparently they don’t want...

TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, I SAW THE ADD IN M.C.N OPENING AT 7AM TILL 2 PM 7 DAYS A WEEK. NINE OF US TRAVELLED 84 MILE ROUND JOURNEY, GOT THERE AT 11 AM TO FIND THEY WERE CLOSED. GOOD TO SEE A NOTE IN THE WINDOW SAYING IT WAS CLOSED ON THURSDAYS BUT I COUDN'T READ IT FROM WHERE I LIVE. I SUGGEST IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO PUT IT ON THE INTERNET TO SAVE WASTING PEOPLES TIME LIKE...

Went on the back of positive past reviews, unfortunately I found today that this was not the case. Service was disappointing as a large group who came after a pair of us were served first and we ended up with a 35 minute wait, this was on top of takeaway customers also being prioritised.
