I have never been to a restaurant that has treated me so rudely, disrespectfully and outright aggressively until I went to Daft Eddy's.

Upon arriving the restaurant looked nice with scenic views and spacious seating. I was there with my friend and as we entered the restaurant a man told us that they were not serving food which was fair enough as it was 10:00 pm. We were only there for a drink and after telling him this he told us that it was last orders until 10:30 and that there were no more seats left. So I asked him if we could sit down outside as there were two groups seated with 5/6 free tables outside. As if he was annoyed I had asked to sit down, he finally allowed us to sit down outside. We would have left at this point if it wasn't for us travelling 30 minutes to get to it.

I then went to the bar to order drinks as there was no sign of table service. I placed an order with a waiter and everything seemed fine. Another waiter then saw that I was waiting on my drinks to be poured and began to tell me that it was last orders. I told her that I understand however I am placing my last order. She began to become very aggressive stating that it, “was last orders,” and I politely told her that I understand and that I am waiting and trying to place my last order. This really startled me as I have never experienced this before. She then shouted to the man who had rudely met us at the door telling me to talk to him. He came over stating, "Are you giving my staff grief", I found this extremely degrading, disrespectful and rude especially since I am young and work as a waiter myself part time. After hearing this I took a step back to process it and the man got extremely close to my personal space and aggressively told me that it was, “last orders.” Something I still do not understand as I was trying to place my last order. I checked the time and it was 10:15 and I stated it was not half 10 yet. Even better was that there was a customer in front paying for a drink. He then told me where the door was which again really startled me. I was concerned that he might get even closer to my personal space, I seriously did not know what to expect next so I went back to the table with my friend, told him and left.

This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever experienced. So bad that it literally drove me to create a tripadvisor account and write this review. I am still startled and I really wish that Daft Eddy's take my experience into a deep...

Unfortunately I think we met the actual ‘daft’ eddy. Went 2 weeks ago and a big surly waiter asked if we’d booked a table. Inside was empty, no one was waiting and there was one table free outside, which he didn’t seem to want to give us. To his dismay, a lovely couple at a table said they were finished and offered us their table. He didn’t seem very happy but reluctantly agreed to give us the table. Despite a poor start with the waiter, the food was good, the setting was amazing and so we decided to return with wider family the following week. Phoned to book and told it was not possible to book an outside table - we just needed to turn up and wait until one was free. Arrived, asked for an outside table and the same big surly waiter asked if we’d booked a table. Explained his colleague said they weren’t bootable and that we just needed to turn up and wait. He seemed to agree so we asked if we could wait. Apparently not! Despite only being 2pm, they weren’t accepting any more food orders before closing at 9pm. Understandably I wasn’t happy so I asked how I was actually supposed to access outside tables in the future. Same message, “just turn up and wait”. I was getting nowhere fast so turned to walk out. The big guy then sarcastically told me to “have a nice day sir”. I turned to see him smirking and waving goodbye to me. It’s a pity incompetent staff like this really tarnish what could have otherwise been a...

First time at this restaurant after 7 mile drive on dangrous unapproved B roads. Its Not as good as it was made out to be, the service is poor ignored by 4 staff only to be told you need to book, but if get out quick and we will do you a favour and let you in. "No time for starter or ice cream."! Only time for main meal The quality of food is poor microwave heated, very very small meger portions. Tought we got the children's menu. Not good value @ £29. Very disappointing as there are lovely views. It was busy so they don't need or welcome new first time customers. They have all the locals regulars. They will not give any discount and just dismissed my food discount cards without a look. (Look how busy we are!!! We dont need to give discount pay up and get out). So for us its was a one off. Too risky on the B roads, not good value. Poor attitude to new customers made to feel...how dare you walk in here without a booking and expect to stay and pay. You got to be daft to go here. There are Plenty of other restaurants near more welcoming acepting discounting cards and much better value and better food. At least we give it a try. Will defenetly...

The problem with these family run restaurants is incompetent family members that cannot be sacked, assuming this is the root of the problems we had. Problems we had are: too hot and stuffy inside no fresh air available in these covid times; wrong mains delivered twice, Incl item not on menu, chaotic service from different staff every time, staff spraying tables next to us eating (even my local chippy does not do this), poor presentation of our food, thick poorly made pear and almond tart base, and pvc uncomfortable seating. The seating layout fails to take advantage of the views with only those seated opposite able to see, side oriented tables would afford a view to all. A real culinary low on our visit to the area. The manager did not seem to have much grip on what was going on and shouted to us through his mask that someone will take our order. Will not be back.

Top Spot. Great all-round visit, location, food, drinks and service. I had Pork,Leek and Guinness Sausages with Champ and Gravy then afters of Banoffee Pie and Cream all washed down with a pint of Smithwicks whilst being serenaded by garden birds in the trees and shrubs of well maintained grounds. Will definitely return. Dog welcomed also.

Popped in as a group of five without booking and got a table straight away. So much character from the bridge onto the small island to the decor and views. Great quality food and fast service. Ample free car park.
