Went in for lunch today with our in laws ( 6 adults and 3 kids under 5) and have to say the attitude & customer service that we experienced from the 'supervisor' at around 2pm was shocking.
We sat down and ordered via the app. As we were splitting the bill we ordered seperatley and unfortunately just as our in laws went to submit their side of the order the kitchen closed to new orders because they were under pressure. My order for £80 of burgers, chips and hotdogs had already been accepted. We attempted to explain what had happened and assumed that this would be rectified given that had we ordered as one group the order would have went through fine. WRONG. The supervisor wouldn't budge and could not seem to get his head around this. We were forced to cancel the £80 order that we had just placed. The gentleman actually suggested that the other half of our party wait patiently for the kitchen to open again in half an hour or so.
While processing my refund at the till I politely suggested that maybe they should look at the process and be a bit more accommodating in this circumstance and he went off on a rant about how he is always content that he has tried his best and that he wont take my insults home with him at night. I explained that customer feedback and constructive criticism are different from an insult and that I would not set out to insult anyone (He actually argued with me and stated over and over again that it was an insult).
Fully appreciate the pressure hospitality is under at the minute but I couldn't care if the place is burning down your attitude towards the people that pay your bills should always be on form.
Anyway, as we sat on the beach eating our fish and chips from Super Fry for a third of the price we agreed that it was the far better option. £160 lost for you today though.
And to your supervisor... Today your best effort was far from good enough. Maybe look for a job elsewhere in a different industry, sharpening crayons perhalps. FYI, That was an insult, see...
Read moreWhat can I say about this place other than amazing! We arrived unbooked by chance at peak Sunday lunch time as a table of 3 adults and 3 kids. They sat us outside which I was very happy with considering we just showed up to a fully booked restaurant and to be honest sitting on the beach side with the food we received was bliss. We ordered Ham hock terrine (perfect), mussels(so good) and the squid (my god that was a real treat) 3 adults had the full turbot to share, oh my word the skill and passion that went into that dish was exceptional, perfect in every sense. The manager was so passionate about explaining the dish upon serving and professional in every way. We were hands down eating thee best seafood dish the north has to offer, absolutely incredible, not short of amazing. Hats off to the chef, even more gobsmacking was upon conversation we found they only run with two chefs and a KP and for a kitchen team so small and food at that high of a level being served in a full restaurant, that alone speaks volumes for the passion and care this place has. On the journey home all we could talk about is family events we could book here for, thank you soo much Harry’s Shack for a meal we will all remember forever.
Only down side is jeekers the National Trust is really sticking their arm in at £8 to park, yes I get the charity but jeekers National trust have a bit of respect for such a gem of a restaurant that could benefit massively with some sort of support for customer parking in times like this you should be encouraging a boost to the hospitality trade, especially when it’s a gem that serves real good honest food to...
Read moreIt saddens me so much to give such a low rating for Harry's Shack, a place I've always absolutely loved going to. To begin with I appreciate that under current circumstances eating places like everywhere have had to adapt to meet regulations, however, it was very frustrating that there are no actual menus whilst other places continue to offer this and full waiting on service. It was especially frustrating when the only option offered to order food is via your mobile phone, particularly when the WiFi signal is very poor and unreliable. We were not the only customers experiencing this difficulty and to be advised by staff to walk to different areas of the facility until you receive a signal is unacceptable. As for the service it is nonexistent/appalling. One member of staff came to clear our dishes while 2 of us were still eating our starters. Then we waited so long for the dishes to be cleared for our main courses we had to request it. Even then some of the starter plates were removed and we had to request again for the remaining dish to be removed. We then had to walk over to the manager when our main courses were delivered to request cutlery, napkins and condiments.I appreciate it was very busy with the 3 different eating areas available inside and out but at no stage were we even asked if everything was ok. I must stress the food itself was excellent as always but the service from the whole online ordering debacle to the very poor inability of waiting on staff to read the tables means I will sadly not return until I have heard the service has returned to its...
