First time in Toome, visited with my daughter on the road back from a wee city break. Impressed by the food - soup and wheaten and tea offer all for ÂŁ5 was great value for money, soup was homemade and there were 3 choices we went for vegetable and bacon and lentil. We also enjoyed a freshly made chicken salad and coleslaw sandwich and an Americano coffee. Would recommend and will be back again too - I see that they are extending the coffee shop so look forward to seeing what the new extension looks like...
   Read moreLock Keepers Cottage is a lovely stop before or after the walk up to Lough Neagh viewing point. It has sitting indoor and outdoor and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. You can also use this café as an info stop on the surrounding area and get a full view of the entire Lough via a massive detailed map. We had walked past this place at the start of our walk and saw that it was open until 4 pm so we thought we had plenty of time. However when we called in 50 minutes before the advertised closing time, we were told that the coffee machine had been turned off and that they were told to close early. This was very disappointing as we were looking forward to a nice coffee. We were told that it costs money to stay open. Very poor...
