A superb hidden gem at the Benone beach complex. Don’t know why we never found this place before, but will certainly be back again. The location is great with plenty of parking in the main complex car park, a nice indoor seating area with fresh decor and a well laid out outdoor area, both of which have lovely views of the nearby hills. Less than 5 mins walk to Benone beach, you can smell the salt in the air if the waves and wind are right (as they were today). Had a superb toastie and a sharing bowl of loaded fires, not to mention the cheeky and very large slice of rainbow cake. Well well worth a visit and good value. Big thumbs up. We will be back.

Excellent coffee, food superb, the breakfast is fab, staff polite, professional and knowledgeable, it's definitely worth a visit, don't pass it, call in even if its just for coffee, you won't be disappointed. Have just been to waves this evening and had the best tasting burger for years (the wave burger) I dare anyone not to like it, the chips were also outstanding, can't rave enough about this place, excellent, thanks guys, impeccable staff as always, 5 stars again! 👏

Really nice presentation for the dishes we got. The only real vegan option was a vegan sausage roll, but the employee we spoke to was very knowledgeable and we were able to put together some lovely toasted sourdough with avocado, tomatoes and chili and garlic rapeseed oil. Great atmosphere and decorations inside the cafe.

Allow a hour if you plan to eat there. I seem to spend more time in a line than I do anything else in waves.

This season they gave me hope when I seen another till setup for take away so to my peril I went to that. With one lady in front I couldn't fail. But after seeing the line at sit in go down by a couple and 10 mins pass I hadn't even got a order in. So I gave up. I'll see what it's like later in season but for today I head to Cannings spar in magilligan for a couple of breakfast baps (half the price btw) and have a selection of fresh fruit and pastries delivered daily. Also note lovely little bakery in castle rock that is worth a trip.

I can guarantee you that including the travel time you will be back in benone complex quicker than someone in the queue at waves.

But if you have a hour or so spare to queue and happy to sit outside then waves is a nice spot the food is decent (over price but to be expected at a mainly seasonal business) and staff all friendly. That's why I gave it 2 stars.. doesn't deserve 1 star.

Advise to them would be simple. Yous have enough staff front of house to have one girl doing the drinks. One girl on the till and one doing the pastries. They are all running in top of one another and you'll find two or three of them waiting to making a single latte each at the machine. Be much more efficient to have them in a...

updated The owners of this cafe made a decision to keep dog owners outside during peak seasonal times, they posted this on their FB then took the post down. They now have physical signs on the premises to tell dog owners to sit outside during peak times but can sit inside when all the holiday makers are away. Then they insult a customer by calling him a keyboard warrior because they can't deal with the backlash of their post, which basically stated people who have dogs are second class citizens and their custom is less important.

There is a lovely place only 5 mins up the road called Sea Shed which welcomes dog owners inside all year round. Their buns are actually nicer too.

As a side note Mr owner, I would have been a customer a lot more previously but your shop was closed early. But your treatment now for dog owners, we'll...

Lovely location and food. Previously we would have made a point of going here when up this direction and had given it a 5* rating. However on a couple of occasions we and relatives have observed practices that have forced us to reconsider. If you are comfortable with the owners allowing their kids to eat ice cream with a spoon from the serving tubs and take sweets from their jars with their hands, or - in these Covid ridden times - are not bothered that they will separate and lift a slice of cake with their hands to their mouth before handling the food they will serve you, then by all means dine here - you will probably enjoy it, because they are determined that this is the way they will operate. We, however, will be trying other places that respect the customer with better standards of...
