Brewers fayre had always been our family's go to when it comes to all you can eat breakfasts.
Unfortunately broadband gate only takes hotel guests in for breakfast now witch is a shame but understandable.
So we've been going to the oaks. Now.this is our third time and every time things just not as good .
The first time we went the hashbrowns were very burnt and dry and there was so many of them as people weren't eating them that they didn't make any fresh so that's disappointing.
2nd time was okay. There is alot of waiting around as they seems not to have enough staff on and takes ages to get the juice machine and food restocked . But that's the price you pay for this kind of service I suppose
Now the 3rd time . This had to be out worst yet .
The coffee machine wasn't working witch is very annoying but it can't be helped .
The toaster machine is just a kitchen toaster nothing special and very slow
There was no juice for 1 hour !!! And you couldn't get a Fizzy drink because the 2 staff were running around as they so short staffed.
The bacon looked silver and I actually couldn't eat it . It really was awful .
Now I totally understand its busy . But today wasn't that busy and of course they will be more busier as the next closest brewers fayre had stopped breakfasts so under staffing Is just to cut costs and deliver bad service. Very poor management from the top !
This place is good value but recently you can just tell there alot of cost cutting and poor service.
We are regulars and we have noticed that the food quality is lower and the juice brand have changed and not for the better.
We've booked a Toby carvery for next week . Witch works out slightly more expensive but hopefully the experience is better .
Hopefully this feedback is used to actually improve the business and as its our local maybe next month we will give it another visit to see if things...
Read moreParking is limited at busy periods so plan ahead. Food is mediocre on the servery so my advice would be to order off the menu at least this way you are aware the food has been cooked fresh and within the last hour. Drinks are reasonable priced and with the unlimited coffee tea and post mixed soft drinks this establishment is onto a winner. The breakfast they do every morning which is also open to the general public get very busy but kids eat free so is worth your money and something I would recommend plus it is an unlimited breakfast.
I would like to amend my review and up the stair by one for the quality of the food even out of the five plates we requested only 2 where correct. My family where tired and didn’t really want to go to McDonald’s so they chose the oaks. We walked in around 8pm on the bank holiday weekend and got a table for 5 straight away. After choosing what we wanted we went up and made our order. Mushy peas on one meal , no coleslaw on the vegan meal and if possible a jug of iced water as if was really warm and we had children. We was told they did not serve jugs of water even though we had seen with our own eyes 4 jugs of water being served. Instead we where given empty glasses and told to use the tap around the corner. We waited the usual 45 minutes for our food to find the vegan burger had coleslaw over ( vegans can’t eat mayo ) and my mushy peas turned into garden peas. As we where all to tired from travelling we couldn’t be bothered to argue/query with the waiter . After waiting 45 mins for our food in the first place I wasn’t prepared to argue/query it...
Read moreThe staff here were very friendly and worked their socks off. Trouble was there were not enough of them. Especially at the bar. What didn’t help was the fact the staff at the next door Premier inn were telling people there’s no need to pre book as they were pretty quiet tonight. When I arrived at the restaurant that was clearly not the case. And they were none to please to hear what the hotel was telling people. Now seeing as all food and drinks get ordered from the Bar and there was one person you can see where this is going. Ordering the food was in fact pretty painless. Or I just got lucky. I ordered cheesy garlic bread. And a steak pie as it was pie night. The starter garlic break arrived fairly quickly. But was clearly processed and not the best quality. Also as the kitchen had laid the slices on top of each other it meant some had double the amount of cheese and others hardly none as it had stuck to the other bits. After the starter I waited for the main. It didn’t arrive after 15 mins so decided to get a drink at the bar. As the bar was now getting busy I had to wait over 10 mins to get served. Problem is as that’s the only serving point while I was waiting my meal arrived. And was now partially cold. Not an ideal system at all. On the plus side the pie was really nice. And the chips now only slightly cold where ok. Now I would have probably given the place a 2 but the staff were amazing in the circumstances. They got me a table and the pie was very tasty. The management just need to sort their systems out so it actually works. Or they have the staff required to run...
