The Old Plough Chippy is among the most highly rated chippies in Oldham, and it is easy to see why. Located on a corner with free private parking at the rear, it offers convenience alongside its culinary delights. The staff are warm, friendly, and very polite. The in-house cheese and onion pie slice brought back fond memories of my youth, featuring plenty of real cheese, a light pastry, and nice pieces of onion. It was delicious! The Irish curry sauce was also tasty, as was the rag pudding and cheese and mayo chips. The haddock was just okay, and the batter was on the greasy side and somewhat thick. It was a nice lunch after a long drive, and the cheerful staff made for a happy customer. Coeliac's Dream I had gluten free fish, chips, sausage, curry sauce and peas. Curry sauce was the best I've had from a chippy (pre and post diagnosis). Bloody gorgeous. Batter on fish very crispy. All so tasty!! Great service and knowledgeable staff. Wish I lived closer!!!

Well I’ve been going here since it opened ,I work away so only get to go wen I’m home but I can tell you this for nowt, this has fast become the best chippy in Oldham . Let’s start with price . I’ve paid a lot more for food I’ve ended up not eating can’t fault the price, portion size , I can honestly say I can never eat it all, I usually have bread but I don’t now and still struggle , huge portions. The specials, and believe me they are special , the steak dark fruits cider pie is so tasty next time it’s on I’m have 2 pieces and no chips…..Ive just had the sausage, cheese and bean pie and wow fantastic, if you haven’t tried thier sexy spam ( spam and cheese in batter ) then you are missing out. They do a special pie most weeks sadly I can’t always get it but from friends who have they all say the same, bloody delishhhhhh…. The staff, well they are so nice and friendly they even want to come and eat with you ….if you have the last pice of special pie and room in your car 😂😂😂. Joking aside absolutely thumbs up , 5 star, top notch can’t beat it. If you haven’t yet been please try it I promise you won’t be...

We are from London and we came to Huddersfield 3 years ago and went to this chip shop and omg, the size of the portions was sooooo big and it was sooooo worth the money so went we came back to stay in 2024 we wanted to go back there for memory sake and have it again but well the staff were great first of all, very nice and chatty and lovely to meet but the sizes of everything had gone down , don't get me wrong it's still worth the money but one girls is giving out massive portions of chips n I mean massive 😳 and our portions were tiny and we were just abit deflated and also it was his birthday so it was meant to be a nice meal for our memories before, but anyway we ate our food regardless and it was still so good 😋🫶🏼 please don't think I'm slagging this place off as I'm really not but we were just abit let down with our own expectations I guess and considering cost of living now I guess it's just the way...
