This public house should be my local but it's not as the landlord is a control freak with an assumption that everyone wearing a baseball cap is a Trouble maker. I was compared to 20 year old yob of which I do not appreciate , however I did as the landlord asked I was ready for a pint of guinness. It also seems I'm not the only one who feels this way towards the landlord I was informed by a friend of mine who works for the local police force knows of this gentleman's grievances with his clientele so it seems this is local common knowledge.

The landlord asked me to sit in the other room as he said they don’t allow tracksuits I told him I was not wearing tracksuits as I don’t own one. I was wearing baggy corduroy trousers He still made me sit in the other room Where the walls was covered in mould Bar staff was nice. Landlord needs to sort out his establishment out before judging someone based on their clothes I will not be back

The go to pub in North Manchester. Friendly and comfortable atmosphere with charm and very good food . The landlord is friendly and is on the ball constantly, walking about looking after customers. The vault half allows dogs in, it's just a chilled pub. Staff are very friendly too.

615pm on a Friday night called in for some tea . I was wearing all black under armour top and bottoms and adidas trek all black no markings or names . Restaurant had two people in it as I enquired about a table I was REFUSED ! Said no tracksuits or trainers . I am 60 years of age šŸ™„ so off we went . Big mistake I eat out a lot and tip well won’t be back. Your a Lee’s pub with a delusion of grandeur ! In Oldham wow heard it all now . Won’t be back Reply by landlord now I understand and agree he is correct so will change my review to 4 stars Apologies I was wrong in this instance Added to this review was a recent visit when I was dressed appropriately for this pub . Ordered food quick happy staff service not an issue . Pub spotless and obviously kept well . Food though although well presented was just ok not good enough to be on our must go again list . Saw what I can only assume is the landlord in a JW Lees bodywarner chatting with a customer who wanted to book . I’d be concerned large eating space place was empty . Yes nice pub , not cheap , well run but food is average . Example 3 cheese cauliflower cheese an additional charge but boiled florets with a bit of cheese sprinkled on and microwaved isn’t proper food . Landlord get in your car pop up to the church inn uppermill, old pub, not that clean , people rough as toast wear what they want .! But boy is the food spot on .

Revisit 8/4/25 Went for a quick drink and lunch today not been in quite a while so gave it a go. Starters belly pork was amazing tasty and fresh but the chilli cheese nachos not so good I’m afraid insipid liquid cheese and a spoonful of chilli with stale nachos not a good start but have to say belly pork perfect . Fish and chips to follow one small one large . Asked could they be lightly battered and they was perfect very nice indeed . Chips frozen but edible. Fish very good . Upgrade of a slice of bread and butter and chip shop curry good but when are restaurants going to start taking butter out of the fridge they cannot be spread much too hard . Overall great lunch . Nachos and chips disappointing but fish and pork belly plus the Manchester craft lager excellent. Nearby Lees’ pubs in Rochdale I recently reviewed should take note Served by young man behind the bar very helpful and friendly and the chap who has to be the landlord very welcoming and never stopped once when we was in replenishment of soap in toilets rushing about inside and out this guy works hard. Spotless faultless pub run very well , food quality gone up one star...

I went here today in 29 degree heat after leaving the farm next door with my sister, my niece and my daughter we never initially planned to go here but the children were hungry and it looked decent from the outside. When we got inside we were asked to place our order for drinks at the door and were given 4 drinks to carry by ourself along with all our children’s things whilst also holding our child’s hand, no offer for help or even a tray to make life easier. I didn’t want that to ruin my experience so we carried on to our table outside where we ordered our food from the waitresses that were avoiding eye contact and we felt like just didn’t want to take our order, we had to stop and ask a waitress to come over. Once food was order our children were stood up around the table bear in mind it’s 29 degree heat they are hungry and there only 2 years old the manager I assume came over and said this is ridiculous your children need to sit down because of COVID, I apologised even though I was met with hostility I still didn’t rise to it. Our children once again were standing while waiting for food they were not bothering anyone around us as they were only stood up around our own table, the manager came storming out and shouted at us telling us that ā€œwe can’t control our childrenā€ and that we need to leave now, and he’s getting complaints from customers. I told him we’re sat outside we’re bothering no one our children are with us and we have already ordered and are waiting for food, he said again we need to leave now. This is by far the most humiliating experience I have ever had I feel like our skin tone being black women played apart in our treatment as we was met with hostility from the start, and also telling us we can’t control our children like they are animals is not acceptable. We had to get up and leave so our children have still not ate in 29 degree heat, no understanding from anyone that worked there as children get difficult in the heat. Avoid at all costs. It’s 2020 and things like this...

Booked a table for 3, but one of the guests was unable to make it. So we were shown a table for 2 in the middle of the room where the lights were very bright and the music was very loud. Ordered two Christmas festival dinners with all the trimmings. I noticed that 2 customers were sat at the table reserved for us. We were told we could not sit there as needed the space. I noticed the booth table had become free and asked if we could move there and was told yes. When the food arrived there was no yorkshire pudding or parsnips. Pigs in blanket was one of. We asked about this and was told that they would get us a Yorkshire pudding each which arrived sometime later. Very disappointed with this meal and even more disappointed with the service. Not once did any member of staff ask us if everything was okay with our meal or if we needed any more drinks. Customer service was dir especially as the restaurant was quiet. A member of staff came to clear our table and again we were not asked was everything OK with your meal.. Just do you want desserts. Yes we would like to see the menu and 15 minutes went by and no menu given to us. Instead we saw this member of staff taking an order for another table and we were completely forgotten about. The staff need training in social and people skills as checking on customers should be part of the service. I asked to speak to one of the staff who was near our table to let her know that we were both very disappointed in our meal and the service. All she could say was I am sorry.. We are regular customers and this experience has definitely put us both off coming back...
