Great park to take the kids, go for a walk with the dog or grab a bite to eat. This great little park has a big playground with the usual items in it including a sand pit and bucket swing for smaller children, and for the older children and adults there's 2 tennis courts and basket ball court and a zip line rope. There's a well kept bowling green with plenty of benches around it. The rest of the park is lovely to stroll/jog or walk the dog round . Ornamental gardens to sit and enjoy, big fields to play games on or picnic on. In the summer there usually all kind of inflatables for the children on one of the fields. Theres a big stream that runs through the park that connects to the canals if you fancied a walk along them, which is lovely too. There's a couple of bridges to cross the stream to a little wooded area which I like to take the dog for a sniff and a mooch, he loves it .This park also has a cute little garden centre that sells a small variety of plants and shrubs, hand made wooden planters/garden items and fresh eggs. The park has free parking (very small car park but also parking on main road available), toilets and a fabulous cafe with plenty of indoor and...
Read moreBeautiful place, the river Irk runs through the park & you can also get onto the canal easily too. * Nice paths for walks along the river, canal & short woodland walks. Very well maintained & clean, has tennis courts, zip-wire, children's play areas, picnic benches, onsite cafe, Will be a fantastic place in summer for children to have a safe & adult supervised paddle in the river Irk, the kids will love it & dogs too. Great place for dog walks for a sniff along the woodland walks then a paddle in the river. Fully wheelchair accessible, even on the woodland walks, as the paths are clear and well maintained. It would be difficult to get upto the canal as there is a flight of stairs. Has a garden centre at the entrance. Park-run at the weekend. *Organised walks during the week & other...
Read moreGood things about this park...It's not too big. You could stroll around there at a steady pace in about 30 minutes but if you have kids you can easily spend a good 90mins - 2 hours on the park and at the river area / in the cafe.
It has a fair size playground which is fenced off so the kids can run about but not run off.
It has gardens, woodland, river and a field, and a small cafe with toilets. Kids will want wellies because parts are muddy and they may want to paddle in the river, which in places is very shallow and rocky.
It's not far from The Church Inn if you fancy a pint or pub lunch...
