OK, so we booked a table and on arrival we're told to sit anywhere. So a bit pointless booking really. Staff were rude when ordering drinks, walking off mid sentence and chatting to their friends before we had paid. Ordered food but it didn't all arrive at once. My nachos with beef and pulled pork chilli arrived (without beef!) Was assured there was beef in there but I couldn't find any. Charged more than it said in the menu as well, so that is something that really should be clear. Staff were pretty poor in how they spoke to us and how they dealt with us. Waited for food to arrive for 50 minutes. Atmosphere not great to be honest and evening out spoilt. Lager was flat, twice. Toilets had water and toilet roll all over the place. This was at 7pm for crying out loud. Avoid.

Been to a lot of your standard pubs for Sunday lunch, all have been ok, but the one we had at the guild merchant is probably the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had while dining out. It was fantastic, nice soft meat, nice roast potatoes, mash was nice and smooth no lumps in it which I often come across when going elsewhere. And the Yorkshire puddings, the picture doesn’t do the justice , fantastic! We then decided we wanted a dessert, Which again was amazing. Will be coming back again!!!

It's a really nice pub situated on a busy roundabout next to a garage and a Sainsbury's local. The inside is nice and it has a nice beer garden. However the food let's this place down. Husband ordered beef stroganoff and it arrived looking grey. He said it tasted like beef in dish water. I had beef and Stilton salad which was nice apart from the beef being tough and expensive for what you get. Sadly won't be eating here again.

Well where do I start with this, booked a table for 18 people on Friday, pre ordered all the food and sent it in on Thursday as requested. Starters came out had to ask for a spoon for the soup and also butter for the bread, then mains came out this is where the problem started, a chicken burger came instead of a cheese burger and then proceeded to say we had ordered a chicken burger and not a cheese burger and we just had to put up with it as they would not make it again even though a cheese burger was definitely ordered, another 2 member of the party received kids meals instead of adult meals and another member of the party never received there food he asked them and he got told it had never been ordered but again it had been ordered so by the time he got he's food everyone else had already finished. Food wasn't even good either. A member of the party then went to go and order some drinks to be asked who was paying this bill as it was getting to a big amount and wouldn't serve him insinuating that we was goinf to leave without paying IF YOU CANT CATER FOR LARGE GROUPS, JUST STATE THAT YOU CAN'T, totally ruined the whole evening, the girl on the bar was really rude and her customer service skills are shocking. We won't be returning and will be letting others no about the...

Lovely staff and great food we've always had a positive experience in the Guild Merchant.

They run offers all week on food and drink and the menu should have something to suit everyone. The menu is available online so check it before you go for an idea of their selection. The kids enjoy the selection on the kids menu and the desserts are almost adult sized which you can imagine goes down well with the kids!

The ambience is pleasant and relaxed and it's always spotlessly clean. All the staff are friendly and happy to help.

The only thing lacking in this pub is outside space. It shares a car park with Sainsbury's and backs on to a petrol station so space is limited. It has a few outside benches and a small beer garden but in sunny conditions you'll be lucky to get a spot as it's tiny!

It has a couple of disabled parking bays, ramp access and wheelchair accessible doors so can accommodate for additional needs. The staff spotted myself and my Dad both have conditions that make carrying glasses an issue and without asking they brought over the drinks and offered top ups on refill drinks at the table.

It's that kind of service that makes this pub our favourite...

Arrived at 7:15 ordered drinks and decided on fish and chips and a mixed grill informed no fish and chips so decided on a chicken burger paid for order sat down at table 21 a few tables were still eating their food and we waited and we waited we finished our first round of drinks and still no food it had been 35 minutes went to bar to order more drinks and asked if our food was going to be much longer informed by bar person ā€œit will be with you soonā€ sat down and we waited it was now 50 minutes since we ordered then the bar person appeared with a handful of money and said ā€œ I’m really sorry but the kitchen is closed and I hadn’t realisedā€ utter disbelief is an understatement to say we were disappointed is mild!! Can’t believe it took nearly an hour for us to sit there and wait whilst no one even checked the kitchen was open!! We won’t be returning anytime soon and to think our friends 8 of us in total had said go and see what the Guild Merchant is like we could go regularly if it’s any good we all typically spend Ā£400-Ā£500 on a typical night out!! Your loss Guild Merchant!! Big...
